FASHION WEEK PARIS #4

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week1

And here is the fourth and last post about the fashion week... I hope I didn't lose the less fashionistas of you (God what an ugly word " fashionista "...). Terrible fashion lexical field aside, I need to tell you, the immoderation, the true hysteria, the people, maybe also the genius.

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week-chanel

It all started when I got a phone call from Chanel (like every other day you know, nothing alarming here...), the adorable press attachée tells me about different projects and ends the call asking for my address to send me "my invite card for the 4th of March show that is currently getting calligraphi-ed", my phone speaker is so loud that Charlotte S, who is now working with me, turns white. As for me I'm holding my breath. Very normally, with a very detached tone, almost blasée I give her my address (this is what I think I'm acting but all the witnesses testify that nope, I was sounding crazy). I hang up, hysterical laughter, I could roll on the floor, I think I rolled on the floor, too happy, I want to call every member of my family as if I just passed an exam. I camp myself, I listen to Larusso, I dance the happy dance. It's going to be okay.

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week

Okay but wtf, let's put the facts in context... Fashion week: okay, I deal with it, Grand Palais: okay, I deal with it but it really is big, Chanel: okay, I deal with it too, I worked for the jewelry so it's good. But Fashion week + Grand Palais + Chanel + me (go figure) = LARUSSO.

I can't explain it, I think it is the fact that I, Lisa Gachet, little Swiss army knife and (in passing) girl with a website, can get access to such a huge show as Chanel. Thank you Make my lemonade, thank YOU because the number of unusual things I was able to do in two years thanks to this website is crazy. So okay, this is simply the Fashion week but it's not, it's colossal work, little hands working tirelessly until the last minute. And when I see the Chanel show, the work of set designers, it's very clear that this is the job I want to do.

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week-chanel-2

Regarding the show, it was so crazy, it's clear that Karl is doing his grocery shopping at the Monop'. In the Chanel grocery store every packaging was branded with puns about Gabriel Chanel, mademoiselle Coco, tweed and all the lexical field of the brand... I wonder if they hired the Havas City agency, which did all the packaging at Monoprix or if it was all home-made, in any case it was amazing... Everything, from the Chanel dry sausage to the "biscocottes" ("biscotte" is crispbread) or if you went to the hardware section, the chainsaw chain had been replaced with the famous handbag chain... Awesome! Even the fruits and vegetables labels... People were going crazy. Chanel wins the social network battle, it took a crazy amont of time for the show to start because people needed to be directed towards their seat but visibly no one was too hurry to do so, they were too excited about taking pictures of everything to put them on instagram...

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week-chanel-3

The show was really crazy, so offbeat, contrary to Moshino's Jeremy Scott who went too far (into the anecdotal, to me anyway), Lagerfekd had fun in touches, bags into tweed-braided market baskets, quilted caddy, vacuum packed bags... We can feel the fun and humor and not so much the provocation... Everything was fake at Chanel, wrappings were empty and fresh products given to associations, I'd find borderline to have the models run into a real store on the other hand, given that some people cannot fill their fridge.

And cherry on the milkshake, my seat was so well situated, just behind Keira Knightley, who was seated next to our national Gaspard Ulliel and if I'd felt like it I could have tickled Vanessa Paradis' neck...

Hard to follow Chanel but still, JCDC was able to emerge unscathed...

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week-JCDC-1

And it was my first JCDC show... To me their collections were always too "gadget", too "happening" with emblematic collaborations like disney, bambi or the muppet show but not always suitable in real life, and then I've been following what's happening at JCDC for a few seasons. This collection is called "sport soir" I was expecting something "sport wear", like the audience I guess, but not at all. I'd say it was chic, refined and completely urban. And colors as always! I'm so glad! Impeccable lines, sublime knits with fur embroiders that outline monsieur Castelbajac's drawings. I found it mastered, beautiful and fresh, like a wind of change while keeping the very essence of JCDC's identity, the humor, the line and the mischief.

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week-JCDC-4

Regarding backstage, shu uemura was marvelous once again, it really is my favorite make up, even though Thomsen was quite crazy as well. It can feel frivolous but seeing so many colors on the looks and on the make-up, I find it refreshing and it feels good on the mood, I tell myself that next winter will go faster and that will definitively be more fun.

make-my-lemonade-paris-fashion-week-JCDC-3

And I posted a picture on Instragram yesterday with my fashion week essentials, Sony was kind enough to make my test their last toy: the Xperia Z1 Compact, some of you asked me what I thought of it... Well I'll let you judge by yourself of the quality of the pictures bellow, they were taken in a dark interior... I am definitely convinced, however I find the navigation and use of the device a little bit complex at first, but I'm not giving up on it. So what about you, what were your favorite shows? You can discover all of my picture on Pinterest as usual.

FASHION WEEK PARIS #3

make-my-lemonade-show-sonia1

My little cats, here is the third and last-but-one post about the fashion week... But what a post! Today I will talk about insanely insane shows, Sonia Rykiel and Tsumori Chisato along with a Tommy Hilfiger correcting session at their showroom. You can find all my pictures on my Pinterest. See you tomorrow for Chanel and JCDC... LOVE on you !

Let's start with Sonia Rykiel's backstage, the main line this time, the atmosphere was electric. Models arrived sparingly so a bunch of people were busying on them, frenetically removing their make-up, energetically undoing their hair, gently hydrating them, perfectly making them up and hastily doing their hair back and all of that at the same time!!!! I think there was 8 to 10 people on one girl. Complete hysteria in the room. And yet everything seemed to work well, hairdressers and make-up artists weren't bouncing into each other, as if everything was choreographed to the millimeter. So if you want to have beautiful waves, you simply have to braid your hair into two plaits, then spray them with an enormous amount of Elnett hair lacquer, and to "toast" them with a strengthener, to leave them for 30 minutes and to unbraid them and TA-DA! I'll let you test that for me...

make-my-lemonade-show-sonia2

The show was completely insane, I managed to go where I could film the collection because if I'd stayed where I was supposed to I would have been able to film the ceiling honestly. So when lights went off I elbowed my way and went down a few steps, found a spot in the stairs. From where I was I could see Mrs Rykiel's red hair in the front row. Miranda Kerr sets the tone, the show begins, camel, beige, cream, light pink, coral, winter will be sweet for Rykiel. The Mongolia's furs are brushed so the hairs become downy like a Marabout reinterpretation of the brand's emblematic coat. Of course amazing knit, with all over fair isle pattern, an entire outfit covered with the word "moi" ("me"). It makes you wonder whether Geraldo da Conceicao, the artistic director of the brand, is trying to mark its presence on the house... Very beautiful collection, it is certain that things are in safe hands, but I'm a little disappointed not to see models have fun and sparkle as it used to be.

In between shows I rush to the Tommy Hilfiger presentation, since I couldn't be in New York for their show I'm going to their showroom for a correcting session. It's getting stronger every day, winter will be colorful, and for Tommy it means checks, the good old Canadian trapper checkers! Skirt with flatten pockets alert... (in the above video!)

make-my-lemonade-show-tsumori-chisato-1

And Tsumori Chisato, I could talk about it for hours... I was so lucky to be able to see the last fittings before the show but also the make-up and hair tests and of course the backstage and during the show I was able to be with the photographers which really is the best spot to take right photos and videos.

make-my-lemonade-show-tsumori-chisato-2

It was really crazy to be able to attend such confidential times, it always gives me a rush of adrenalin during which I feel so privileged... (Thank you Jun!) But to be honest with you and since I worked in a designer house, days before the show as calm as Tsumori Chisato's don't really exist... The showroom was very quiet even though it was packed and everyone was accomplishing its task, once again it was all very choreographed. The creative studio is based in Japan and everybody arrives in Paris a few weeks before D day to create the show... The core of the collection is already ready for a while which might explain the surrounding calm.

make-my-lemonade-show-tsumori-chisato-3

The theme of the collection is "winter jungle", palm trees, toucans, gorillas, bananas, all revisited and not taken literally but very very figuratively... The collection is completely crazy but I personally see myself wearing a green or purple toucan sweater, a black sweater with banana sleeves, a green coat with gorilla teething as a pocket piping, without a problem...

make-my-lemonade-show-tsumori-chisato-4

About the " hair and make-up " I feel like the brief was ANN the beautiful King King blond girl (the one from 1933), a little pin up but also savage... with very glamorous curls and fake blurry bobbed hair, smoky eyes and beautiful read lips... I admit, I loved this beauty treatment...

FASHION WEEK PARIS #2

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek-day-2-5

My little cats,

I'm back with my report of thursday: Carven and Thomsen... A re-discovery and a love crush... At first I was only supposed to go to the Carven show but thanks to my great friend Nelly Chatagnon from the blog Make my beautyI was able to go backstage to watch her work and to jubilate on her work of ultra glossy eyebrows... I'm passionate about thick eyebrows, colored eyebrows and since Carven, "wet" eyebrows. I admit that the last two options aren't the most obvious on an everyday basis but I might spend 24h with pink eyebrows just to make you an extreme report kind of thing, anyway...

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek-day-2-6

The Carven show was completely insane, an incredible work with details, cuts, collars, XL belts, leopard touches, it still is love with Carven. I sense that next winter will be colorful and that's a really good new, yellow, pink, 1950-blue, leopard. Special mention to the absolutely sublime furs embroidered with strass-made arrows. I saw arrows here and there on the internet, DIY to think about...

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek-day-2-4

And comes the disappointment regarding shoes, some think it's genius, I am more than skeptical, I'm really not into XL thigh boots. They're not tight sock-like tight boots but more something like giant waders that were tighten on the top of the thigh while keeping the volume. So unless you're 6 feet tall and you haven't eaten anything since 2001, I'm not sure this is flattering and even if you are it's not guaranteed. But the good news is that it didn't stroke me from where I was seated, those girls are so tall that I only saw the color and the pattern of their outfit. Hallelujah. I let you decide by watching the video, oh and look at this amazing way of caring your bag on your heart...

The day could have stopped there but Nelly tells me she handles the make-up of the Thomsen presentation, the brand of her friend Alix Thomsen, and if I want I can come sneak out in the backstage... (more pics on my Pinterest).

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek-day-2

To me Thomson was a beautiful brand for shirts and underwear, the presentations were always crazy. It is actually this brand that made a choir as presentation a few years back, with the title "I love my shirt" written by Séverinawesome video (thanks Domino Lattès). So of course I was really tempted! I arrive at the Perrotin Galerie in a small room where 40 people are bumping into each other, make-up artists, hair dressers, models, and my lovely Mai that I find here completely by accident (so the discreet sneaking was off...). The girls are real girls, not models, which make them a hundredth time more beautiful. I hallucinate on the design I feel like Alix has met my clothes fantasies, everything is so colorful, not conventional and full of good taste. I want everything. The shirts are still there but so are knits and crazy coats and jackets (yellow coat and pink wool perfecto alert...)

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek-day-2-2

Regarding make-up, Nelly and Alexandra are really good it is beautiful. I want to wear yellow on my eyes in a diffuse eyeliner with a beautiful orange lipstick... Dior baby blue on my nails... Those mixings were daring! Ffff I can't get over this afternoon!

For the presentation the girls were paying little scenes among the Perrotin Galerie, you could really feel that they enjoyed playing "the girls in the Thomsen class". Impertinent and funny, Mai told me that it was very Rykiel like, from the great time of Sonia Rykiel... Truly accurate don't you think?

FASHION WEEK PARIS #1

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek1-1

It is crazy!

My chestnuts, life is crazy and I am like a child lately, a stressed child but a child nonetheless.

I have to admit that even though I have some more especially important topics to deal with such as finding a new place to live and a new office within the next month, preparing a huge trip for next week, and more importantly working on a very very big project for in about 3 weeks... I have to say that the Paris Fashion week didn't appear like a top priority. But to be completely honest (and please don't see in me somebody snobby), I had never attended a fashion show in Paris, I had only been in New York... (Oh God, how does it sound...). So when the invitation cards started to arrive, I was surprised, glad and hysterical, I choose to write 4 posts for you, this is almost live-blogging since some of these events occurred yesterday.

And to be completely honest with you, this fashion week is purely and simply about sharing, because I think that the work done before and during the shows and presentations deserve our attention as well, it is good for the inspiration and I'd like to make you feel this unique energy.

And also, I'd like to mention another point I care about, this "fashion week" project is also a personal investment since I hired the sweet Tania Houlbert (to make the videos) without any sponsor behind it, unlike what we had with Gemey-Mabelline and the NY fashions weeks. Moreover I have in mind a post about partners and collaborations, I feel like there is a need of some clarification there...

Let's start with the Etam Show, huge package, crazy international artists, seeing Eve sings "Who's that girl" again was quite a shock. Backstage and rehearsal were completely stunning, a bit like discovering a new ethnic group made of over-6-foot-tall women with shiny hair and keen eye. Regarding the show I think that Etam blew its audience away once again! I was a little surprised by the atmosphere among the audience, very school-like, whereas there was some real deal on the scene! And I have to say that the stylisation (I'm not talking about the lingerie itself) but really about everything around, shoes, accessorizes, clothes etc... was really not up to the show. I admit being disappointed by that despite a few spectacular items.

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek1-3

Sonia By... I was seduced by this "mini show" presentation. Beyond the collection that I love and want absolutely every piece of (bear-coat alert! I'm already starting to save up), I loved the minimalist and colorful scenography. Bravo Bonsoir Paris (they definitively have the wind in their sails these two... A few weeks back I was talking about the windows at the Galeries Lafayette, remember?). What do you mean I'm not objective? No really, I found it light and poetic while very refined, favoring the collection.

make-my-lemonade-fashionweek1-2

And the Tara Jarmon presentation, in a completely different register the Tara Jarmon team made us travel through an imaginary forest, quite fantastic, where models were playing cricket while cuddling small rabbits, some were reading literature laying in woodland scene's moss while others where walking she-wolves around in all simplicity (ACTUAL SHE-WOLVES). The collection is very beautiful with fine materials and perfect cuts... Have you seen the navy sequins dress in the video? Accessorizes are crazy and unexpected, gigantic chapka/scarves and transparent was cloth mini skirts, I had a huge crush on a necklace with flowers made out of giant bakelite scales...

See you tomorrow my chestnuts... And in the meantime RDV on my Pinterest to discover more pictures of this day.

HOT SPOT #1: BLUE VALENTINE

make-my-lemonade-blue-valentine3

And here is the first of a, let's hope so, long and beautiful "Hot Spot" series on the blog... I feel like creating new sections lately. So why this one? Because I love tracking down new addresses, going hunting on new places, eavesdropping to hear about crazy spots, opening my eyes wide open... It can be restaurants, shops, coffee places and so on... I love being the "test girl" and even more saying "But we have to go there, it's going to blow your mind!"

make-my-lemonade-blue-valentine2

To begin with I'd like to inaugurate this new section with the Blue Valentine - that didn't just test... I went there a couple of times but what a discovery! Let me tell you the story, I met Léna, the owner of this restaurant, when I did the photo shoot of the Brunch chapter at La chambre aux oiseaux, another one of her babies... And I was told about Blue Valentine by Hervé, who work there, remember Hervé and its wrapped salad ? Well the restaurant had only been opened for a couple of days and not thinking twice we tested it the following day with my love: wonderful.

make-my-lemonade-blue-valentine1

I literally love the place, in between Scandinavian design and mind-expanding atmosphere. The first time I was surprised and wasn't sure of liking this unlikely mix of styles and the other times it became obvious, the magic is working... But let's talk about the sum and substance: the food!

make-my-lemonade-blue-valentine

It's a Japanese chef working there, I cannot find the words... It is as beautiful as it is tasty, when the meals arrive it is a colorful, graphic and delicate party. I found the "tiny forest" dressing I discovered in Helsinki. I am in heaven, it's fresh, aromatic herbs and wild flowers are dancing around. I take my time to savor, which rare enough to mention it... The fishes and meats are perfectly cooked. I even ate pigeon one night, so unlikely that I could choose such a meal, and it was awesome. The menu is simple and evolve every day depending on what is fresh and the inspiration of Chef Saïto Terumistsu.

And wild flower on top of the tiny forest, the price is affordable given the quality and the level of the meals coming out of the kitchen... Count on 36 € for starter, main course and desert.

Open from wednesday to sunday.
Brunch, one menu on saturdays and sundays from noon to 3 p.m.
Booking advised.

DIY SNOOD DOGGY DOG

make-my-lemonade-snood-diy1

I'm getting reaaal good at finding titles lately ha ha ha !!! You know it's a bit like the " Modjo " with men, it comes and goes and you cannot control it... And as you can see I'm going through quite a drought lately (when it comes to title, obviously). Anyway, this post had been ready for a few days but technology was not there. You couldn't see anything but for me it was a different story... It was impossible to upload an article, like some sort of internet layoff... Hopefully I have a wonderful, very responsive team but it was quite annoying anyway! (Thank you Romain!)

Let's get back to business! I made this snood on the go, literally as a sudden craving for cheese on a small piece of cereal bread with a wee bit of black cherry jam... I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, this uncontrolled slip when you come across your fridge... Well, I have the same kind of slip when coming across my sewing machine...

Last week I was suffering from the plague and the cholera altogether and the idea of going out was almost unconquerable without a scarf... (I disperse scarves like Little Thumb) So in no time I made a DIY lovey Snood, scarf or hood with perfect proportions (yes, I said perfect)

Perfect because I really thing that the snood is a great invention, very cool, but people didn't thing this great idea all the way through. A tube of wool, jersey or whatever you want, is fine but if it's straight, when you put it on it never stick to your neck and you get the flu and buy a scarf... SNOOD 0 - FLU 1 / DRIPPING NOSE 1 - SEXINESS 0... Hard times.

make-my-lemonade-diy-snood-1

To make this DIY:

  • Cost about 20 euros (it depends on the quality of the beads you'll find...)
  • Time about 2 hours, at a normal pace...
  • Difficulty "If you know how to sew really straight with a machine it's better"...

make-my-lemonade-diy-snood-2

To make this DIY, you will need:

  • 4 trapeziums of jersey, mine is a little quilted and I found it at Sacré Coupons (the trapezium template is available HERE)
  • about 60 beads of a 20 mm diameter (found at the chinese shops from rue du Temple, 75003)
  • pins, a large needle and black cord,
  • and of course a sewing machine and a working iron.

Start with pinning on the sides, the bases, two trapeziums of fabric, right side against right side.

make-my-lemonade-diy-snood-3

Once the right side is pinned, sew it with the machine at 1 cm from the edge, and don't forget to open the seams with your iron. Start again with the other two trapeziums. You now have two identical tubes. The first one will be use as the right side and the second one as the wrong side. Do not worry they have the same proportions. I made them with the same fabric but feel free to make it bicolor and reversible.

Keep your tubes on the wrong side (you have to see the seams) and put one into the other. Then you are going to assemble them right side against right side.

make-my-lemonade-diy-snood-4

Start with the larger side, and help yourself with the seams already done to line up both tubes. Pin along the width of the tubes, your snood starts to appear... And sew it with the machine, don't forget to open the seams...

make-my-lemonade-diy-snood-5

Turn your snood on the right side. Make a small hem on both side on the right and the wrong sides of the base of your open snood. Finish with pinning these hems.

make-my-lemonade-diy-snood-6

With a needle and a thread of the same color as the snood, close it by hand-sewing it, you'll be more accurate. And there you go, you have a beautiful doubled jersey tube. Now let's get to the "ethnic bling" details, metallic silver beads.

make-my-lemonade-diy-snood-7

Still using the large needle and the cord thread, embroider the beads on the larger opening of the snood. I'd advise you to make a little knot between every beads, in order for you not to have a steam of beads on your shoes if an unfortunate accident such as "CAT/CLAWS/SNOOD" or any pointy situation occurs. You'll see, it is very quick and once it's done don't forget to say TA-DA!

Happy sunday kitties...

HAPPY VALENTINE FRIDAY #52

"Boohoo Valentine's day is a commercial holiday, that sucks, all this pink and red, it's filled wilt good intention, hearts, glitter, champagne, chocolates, helium balloons, frilly panties, HELP!"

make-my-lemonade-snood-happy-valentine-day1

Hého! Aren't those things that you like every other day of the year? I'm teasing you... But actually not so much. I have to say I like Valentine's day. I don't scatter my apartment with rose petals and I don't wait for my boyfriend completely naked and covered in sushis, but I like this day (please get rid of that image right now!). I love receiving my bouquet, eating well, putting on some sexy clothes and saying each other I love you... I also do it every other day on the calendar but I don't know, I think it's quite cool to take some time for your couple, isn't it?

"We shouldn't wait for the 14th of February to say we love each other. No, that's true but isn't it quite the same with the woman day? There shouldn't even be such a day!

make-my-lemonade-snood-happy-valentine-day2

And Valentine's day is the celebration of love, the Day of Passion... There could be worse after all, the heads of marketing could have invented the Oscar's Day to celebrate the war or the Sharon's Day to celebrate bacon. Let's stay calm. Because Christmas and all the presents are very commercial as well, Santa too is tainted! And the Easter Kinder® bunnies, chocolate wasn't written in the bible, was it ? Let's not even get to the Halloween topic...

I'm telling you all this because I have some friends, who are in couple (important detail), that are so against Valentine's day, they'd get really mad really quickly when the 14th of february is evoked, (almost) waving their crucifix and spraying holy water at me. And I'm not saying anything about the single ones, who would rip my eyes off if I dared talking about my tonight plans.

make-my-lemonade-snood-happy-valentine-day

Okay I admit that for single people it's not fair play from the heads of marketing of the world... But according to my memories of single young lady (that aren't so far away), I had had awesome Valentine's with my friends, drinking a bottle of Bordeaux and eating saucisson, while listening to a good old lame Richard Cocciante playlist until dawn.

Come on, I know I've told you too much, but I'm telling you anyway: I love you...

make-my-lemonade-snood-happy-valentine-day3

So today I'm wearing a dress with little hearts Claudie Pierlot (it was now or never) that's from a few years back but I found you this one in the same spirit... A Lacoste Liveteddy, H&M tights, Maje red boots also from a few years back but you can find erzats that are very valentine's day spirit...

See you tomorrow for a DIY! And golden lemons were awarded! LOVE !

ICED NOUGAT

makemylemonade-cook-nougat-ice

My sweet birds...

I have a cold so big that since sunday my nose has become the incubator of the plague 2.0 and my voice a featuring between Afl's and Jeanne Moreau's. SO sexy. But I feel good, my brain is working at full speed, as usual you'd say, but I really think that I'm only staying up because of my excitement and my neurons. To help with my sore throat, I only find comfort in boiling tea with honey or I should say boiling honey with tea... and in iced, as a kind of Proust's revival of my beloved tonsil and adenoids operation. I think I deployed my entire lexical field of glamour today.

makemylemonade-cook-nougat-glace1

Here is a recipe to soothe your throat's fires, tested and mopped up by a panel of friends each one more enthusiastic than the next (christmas desert among other things... Thank you Philippe, thank you Mom for your tricks).

makemylemonade-cook-nougat-glace4

To make this famous iced Nougat you will need: (1 cake mold and 6 muffin mols or 2 cake molds depending on what you have available in your cupboard).

  • 3 eggs,
  • 40 cl creme fleurette,
  • 120 g sugar,
  • 100 g honey (As for me, I replaced it with agave syrup)
  • 100 g nuts and hazelnuts (50/50)
  • 100 g almonds,
  • 100 g pistachios.

makemylemonade-cook-nougat-glace3

Start with grilling the nut mix in a dry pan (very dry indeed), dust a little sugar and let caramelize at low heat. Meanwhile separate the eggs and set aside. In a saucepan, heat up the honey. While the honey is heating, whisk the egg whites with an electrical beater and pour the boiling honey on the egg whites in a thin trickle. Add the rest of the sugar to the egg yolk and make the mix foam. Then gently add the egg yolk to the egg whites.

makemylemonade-cook-nougat-glace2

Whisk the creme fleurette into a firm Chantilly and add it to the previous mix. Finally add the previously crushed nuts. Put the lot into a cake mold preferably a silicone one, if not wrap it in Cellophane. Put your iced Nougat into the freeze for at least 12 hours before serving it!

Really this is an easy recipe, so easy that it will become your favorite iced desert... No need of an ice-cream maker and this is awesome for those of you who don't have the chance to have one in your 2-square-meters kitchen.

CANDY EYES #1

make-my-lemonade-vitrines-galeries-lafayette-3

Happy sunday my chestnuts,

I was talking yesterday about a new section... Well here we are " EYE CANDY " will be as it says: love, sweetness for your eyes, warm chocolate for your brain... A beautiful picture or series of images for inspiration depending on what's in store this day... It will mainly be a weekend section.

make-my-lemonade-vitrines-galeries-lafayette-2

I'm opening this new section with the windows of the Garleries Lafayette made by the talented Bonsoir Paris. For the ones who are following me for a while, my love is one of the founding partners of Bonsoir Parisso if I'm talking about their work today it is because I'm so proud of him, of them... MAKE MY TARA JARMON

 make-my-lemonade-workshop-tarajarmon4

I'm back in store kitties !

It is quite weird because I find myself nervous about writing to you, as if during the past 2 weeks I forgot how to do to it... So okay I'm not going to apologize or tell you for the hundredth time that my life is full and booked... And apologize for what ? For my "real life" and "real job" being completely insane? No! You know that I'd like to be here more often. This blog is today more than ever my escape, my playground. Lacking the time to experiment with you makes me sorry but I don't apologize because I'm learning thousands of things on myself and my work lately, so you know... If I'm here today it's because it's working, things are set and I'm back with A LOT of fresh and sparkling contents... It starts today! New sections... the famous Newsletter, contests, a birthday, some love, DIY and new crazy Workshop sponsors!

Talking about Workshop, for the ones who weren't lucky to come to the last one with Tara Jarmon, here is the little report...

make-my-lemonade-workshop-tarajarmon2

First of all I'd like to thank the whole Tara Jarmon team for their more than warm welcome in their beautiful buildings...

make-my-lemonade-workshop-tarajarmon3

The program included the customization of a shirt with leather flowers and metallic flowers (that we previously took from a necklace...). The making of an XXL rose-style knot with satin and gros-grain (DIY on the blog soon) to hang up to your Tara Jarmon skirt or to your headscarf... And as a bonus surprise Fred came as the icing on the bun to do the girls' hair with their scarf... (it was so funny to see the girls blush, the power of this man...). While Fred was working on one girl's head and the other ones waiting for their turn, we learned how to make origami flowers in two different ways, the rose you already know and another version.

A huge thank you to Tara Jarmon, Marlette, Vitaminwater, Fred, Léo Caramelo, Charlotte, Justine, and of course Tania. You can find all the pictures of the workshop on the Make My Lemonade Facebook page.

And as Mai says it perfectly in her article, I miss you, but I miss you well... See you tomorrow!

The next workshop will be in March, until then we will have another occasion to meet... Be patient.

DIY Pomp(om) it up[:]

untitled-112

Happy wednesday my lovely cats!

I hope you're all doing great, I first wanted to thank you for all your awesome comments under my last post about my wish cards! THANK YOU for sending me heaps of love, it is so warm and bracing!

So today it's DIY as usual, nothing revolutionary but there is nothing better than customizing a lovey sweater... To keep yourself warm, to bring a touch of fun in your everyday life during this grey January, to become the idol of every children under 6 and so on... To be honest I fell in love with this image on Tavi's Pinterest and I kept it somewhere in my head until this day where I found the magic tool "the pompom maker" on the famous MILH ("Make it like Huguette"... you cannot make that up...) website. It's not a revolution as in "you put the wool and three movements later the pompom is made", nope. But it makes things quite easy and the pompom is damn perfect at the end, you just have to make the ends equal and it's perfect. It is the time for you to get your wool out again and I am giving you a challenge, give me something to dream about and send me a picture of your realization entirely covered with pompoms... You'll have a great surprise at the end. A big kiss!

-Cost about 20 euros... (sweater not included)

-Time about 2 hours, yes it's true, especially if you have the magic tool I'm about to show you...

-Difficulty "finder in the nose"...

1

To make this DIY you will need:

  • A sweater, here it's a Kujten.

  • Some wool (5 balls of different colors)

  • Scissors

  • A large needle

  • A set of pompom-maker tools, MILH (okay, the good old method with a round piece of card will work as well)

2

Take one of the pompom-maker tool, take the first two pieces and put them face to face.

3

Then start winding the wool around the half-circle. Once you think you put enough wool, after going "back and forth" a little, check that the wool is evenly winded around the half-circle.

4

Do the same steps with the second half-circle, then snap-together both half-circles thanks to the notches made for it (this is why this tool is magical).

5

Now cut your threads by putting the tip of your scissors in the little groove made for it in order to obtain your pompom.

6

Put a thread of about 20 cm into the famous groove, go all around your pompom and fix it with a knot or two, just to be sure.

7

Don't forget to keep some length before cutting, it will help you sew your pompoms on your sweater.

8

Remove the magical framework and trim your pompom with the scissors. Repeat all stamps until you have a nice family of pompoms of different sizes and colors.

9

Put the end of the thread of your pompom into the eye of the needle, sew the sweater by grabbing a few stitches.

10

Remember to pull your thread to the fullest for the pompom to be well fixed on the sweater, and to sew it close to avoid the pompom to fall thereafter... Make several stitches and finish with a double or a triple knot, you can never be too careful.

11

Your first pompom is now fixed you now just have to do the same with the others. And TA-DA!

I'm wearing a COS white shirt from an old collection but you can find a blouse with a similar shirt-collar therean oversize "DIYed Kujten sweater, yellow mustard pants from Asos, love heels by Sézanea little H&M hat but you will find one alike here.

MY WISHES

WISHES 1

My birdies,

I'm not there lately but it's for a good cause! I read a comment saying " If you're not here since last week it's because you're making something crazy... " Well yes and no. " No " because if I'm not here much it's because, as I was saying, I'm getting a head start my puppies! A head start as in 2014 begins in February, just to have the time to set things up, to take my marks and so on... And " Yes " because it is going to be crazy, it will be nice to be unworried, to take the time to enjoy, to write to you, to tell you a million things, to set up beautiful projects... 2014 HERE WE GO!

make-my-lemonade-wishes

In the meantime I'm gently starting to " blog " again this week because some nice things are ready! Today I'm giving you my little artworks made for my business greeting cards...

untitled-4

4 cards that I made entirely with paper, I surprised myself when I couldn't let go on my calculation, my paper samples, my cutter and my new MACHINE! Ahahah demoniac laugh! I bought a revolution. Yes, just that, this machine is a Silhouette Cameo. It's kind of a printer but it cuts, a bit like in the Chanel and Milk video except that it is a family-size one.

untitled-3

I let you imagine how hysterical I was when I received it... The excitement went down quite quickly when it came to the using it part, if you know what I mean. But you know me, I don't give up easily and with a little dedication everything went smoothly. I could have not slept all night to " print " forms until dawn...

untitled-12

I must say that you have to be very very at ease with Illustrator and not to have any trouble with solid geometry if you print templates to make 3D objects. Anyway I'm so excited, I wish you again a wonderful year!
