My little cats,

I hope you are well. As for me, I'm back from a family vacation, feeling better than ever... Rested, calmed by the last few months of agitation. I'm back on duty around here!

Today I'm going to talk to you about decorating... and more specifically, my bedroom. It was one of my big resolutions of 2014: to move house and have a separate office. Now that it's done, I have to admit that I had absolutely not measured the magnitude of the thing. The energy it takes to make it all work, the stress it generates, the upheaval of landmarks and habits, a new neighborhood to tame. In retrospect, it wasn't easy; apart from the complicated context of my private life, I didn't really feel at home in the 19th arrondissement, like an exile from my beloved Place de République.

The color on the walls is a hue Farrow & BallThis is the shade Parma Grey. Above the bed is an accumulation of posters unearthed via thea boutique of the sublime blog Weekday Carnival. A geometric rug found at Urban Outfitters.

Today, I'm finally enjoying discovering my new neighborhood, the sunny Buttes Chaumont, and above all, I'm enjoying it because when I get home, it's no longer Hiroshima. I'm fine-tuning my little nest, putting color on the walls, trying to find ways to let as much light as possible into the apartment. And now that I'm living on my own, I've let myself go a bit with the colors. So I've got a blue bedroom, as you'll see, a pink, mint living room and a mustard-yellow kitchen. I wanted to treat myself, have the apartment look like me, not wait until the last 3 months of my lease to buy hanging lamps, pretty door handles etc... I wanted it to feel good right away.

As you can see, there are creases on my bed too... I wanted my bedroom to be soothing. It's one of the brightest rooms in the apartment, so I didn't want a white cube... I didn't paint all the walls blue, I wanted the white walls to illuminate the blues and the color to bounce around the room. After hours of hanging out on Pinterest, I had a hankering for this blue, and one day Mai published an article on Blue: "Is love blue?" that finally convinced me. In her article, Mai talks about what Yves Klein says about blue, infinity, the sky, the ocean... And I remembered that when I was a child, I used to say that I loved my parents "as big as the sky"... The blue sky, infinity, all that, I'm sure we can only love each other in a blue room.

On my bedside table, you'll find all the things I can't get rid of at the moment: my silver ring, which I can't present again, my beloved watch... Daniel Wellingtonwatch, the Classic Bristol I love its timeless gentlemanly look. A thin silver bracelet that my sister made for me. And another bracelet that drives me crazy Sony SmartBandI'd already tested the Jaybone, but for example, it didn't take into account whether I was cycling or taking a skipping rope class (yes, skipping rope, well, it could take everything into account, but with different dedicated applications, so I'd be on my laptop for hours calculating everything? And it's not as if I was trying to get away from my laptop... In short, with this little Smart Brand, it's simple and everything is managed on a single application, so there's no need to plug in your wristband to your laptop, that's easy. On this bedside table, you'll also find my nightly hand cream, Burt's BeeIt smells so much like almonds, I could eat them! And let me give you a glimpse of my eyeglasses, designed with Jimmy Fairly... But more on that soon.

I can't tell you how much I've fallen in love with this turntable since I got it! Crosley turntable, found on Urban Outfitters. When I returned to my parents' house, my father found dozens of old vinyl records for me. I'm over the moon, listening to Franck Sinatra, Billy Joel and Elton John over and over again. And as a bonus, I can plug my cell phone into the turntable... Amen!

Opposite my bed is this sublime chest of drawers Maisons du mondeI want to enjoy it even more, and I think there's a wall that's just right for it.

You can see Frida's chair, an Eames just for her, and a knitted pouffe. Urban Outfittersa little shelf for my cacti Coming B. On the Maisons du Monde chest of drawers is the Miffy lamp, my little turntable and a HAY design cardboard box.

If there's one room I wouldn't show you, it's my bathroom, which is as big as a pocket handkerchief and almost pitch-black... So I've taken up residence on my mantelpiece to put on my make-up in the morning, a mantelpiece that doubles as a dressing table. With this magnificent Venetian mirror Maisons du Monde.

A few more details: literally in front of the bed is this huge print of a black and white mirror found on Mooreaseal. The "Moonlight Sinatra" vinyl that I'm literally wearing out... And the little music-box windmill from my childhood, still blue.
