Hello otters!

I'm writing you this little post on this sweet Sunday just before getting on my glitter bike (yes remembermy boyfriend is a bike makeover god) to go and enjoy the spring that's just around the corner! Today, I'm here to tell you a little bit about our day-to-day life at Lemonade Studio after a crazy week of pinata fun. Lisa told you in the article about our Pinata Factory for Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, at the studio I'm officially known as the Queen of Pinatas, so well known that it's written on my business card (I see you're coming, but you should know that our little wonders of business cards were made at Moo ) And I lived up to that reputation on this incredible mission, as we managed to produce no less than 18 pinatas in a week and a half. I don't know if I'm ready to share all my secrets with you yet, but I'm going to tell you a bit about this incredible project.

When Sonia by asked us to imagine a design set for the windows of her new collection, my eye began to sparkle at the idea that we could potentially imagine all this in pinatas, but not just any kind of pinata, a competition pinata, so I was given the mission of mastering the pinata, making a "deluxe" version of it ! A big challenge, since, let's be honest, a pinata is basically nothing more than cardboard and a lot of crepe paper. Mind you, I'm her first fan - it's amazing how an object made from recycled materials, and filled with all kinds of wonders, can provoke such hysteria in young and old alike. So we used considerable quantities of cardboard to make all the bases (thanks to Lisa for moving, which enabled me to recover a lot of raw material), and to cover them we chose beautiful qualities of paper, bright colors, survival blanket and above all denim! For the first time I used fabric instead of paper to cover them, and I think it was definitely one of the best ideas we've ever had. The hold and texture of the denim gave an incredible look to these pinatas, and I think there are plenty of other effects to be discovered using other fabrics, case to follow... I'll let you discover the making of video of this beautiful project, we'll meet again right after this short break!

Ah this little music (thanks to Musicalist) and all those colors, I confess I'm almost sad that the project is over, it was quite incredible to devote ten or so of my days in the studio almost exclusively to making these marvels. And believe me, during that period, the Lemonade Studio went through some dark periods of construction, with multicolored bangs covering the floor, cardboard boxes and double-sided material lying all over the place. Every evening when I got home, I'd realize that the soles of my shoes were covered with bangs made of denim, survival blankets, etc. And I'd still find them in my pockets a few days later! But I tell myself that it's probably the strength of the pinata that's with me, that these 18 creations were surely as sad as I am about our separation. Still, I console myself with the knowledge that they're happy in their windows, and that the saleswomen must look at them with love, just as I did. If you're reading this, my darlings, don't worry, I'll come and see you soon!

You may not know it, but pinatas aren't our only passion - we also have an unconditional love for little paper creations. Ever since we made the 2015 calendarI always look forward to new projects that allow me to imagine new shapes and new challenges. This week, it's Nike who has given us a new treat, thanks to their new "cherry blossom" sneakers, which you discovered in the last Happy Friday ! The brand asked us to create a set for the press presentation of this new collection! As soon as the pinatas had left our nest, flower production got under way!

So we made flowered boxes that would enclose the shoes, ready to be photographed in this little case. I then started cutting a multitude of little white flowers using our incredible machine MichelSo far, nothing too complicated, you might say! Well, we thought of lots of ways to make the branch itself, and against all odds we came across a totally unexpected process: a wire base that we then covered with... brace yourself... masking tape. The idea was to then spray the whole thing with a color to make it uniform, but as chance would have it, I had chosen a masking tape with a black and white motif (moustache and Eiffel Tower) that was absolutely terrific (I promise I won't name the brand), and the BOUM, unbelievable, rolled up on itself the result was absolutely bluffing, like a marble/bouleau for all the branches! And that's the kind of thing that punctuates our days at the Studio!

As you can see, this week the Lemonade Studio was extremely efficient! I think that after more than two years working alongside Lisa, I can still marvel at the amount of work we manage to get done on certain days (believe me, the weekend is definitely worthwhile). So we arrived squeezed like lemons with our cherry branches to get everything in place, and within minutes everything was perfectly installed, and I think at that moment we experienced a moment of grace: we realized that all the window/set design installations of the week had gone off without a hitch. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, that moment you almost never experience, that moment when you haven't made a single mistake in your cut-outs, that you haven't forgotten the tape on the desk before leaving, that everything coincides and flows perfectly, a moment of grace I tell you! So I'd like to solemnly thank everyone who called on us for these projects, and thank you for these wonderful moments of creative fulfillment!

And because sometimes I think we're afraid of getting bored at Lemonade Studio, what better way to end the week than with a little workshop? This one took place with Farrow & Ball in a beautiful Parisian gallery for the launch of their new colors. Since the Ikea Workshop, we've discovered a passion for decorating workshops, and this time we chose to make a poster in the style of a shrink's paint stain, all stuck up with positive mantras. Yesterday was all about mantras at Farrow & Ball! If you'd like to take part in our workshops, sign up for our newsletter so you don't miss out on any news!

On that note, I'll be off on my bike, with a big kiss, Loutrement vôtre!
