FASHION WEEK PARIS #3
My little cats, here is the third and penultimate fashion week article... But what a post! Today, I'm talking about some truly insane shows, Sonia Rykiel and Tsumori Chisato stopping by the showroom for a catch-up spot Tommy Hilfiger. You can find all my photos on my Pinterest. See you tomorrow for Chanel and JCDC... LOVE on you!
We start with the Sonia Rykiel backstage, the big line this time, an electric atmosphere. Models were arriving in dribs and drabs, so when the girls came running in, a multitude of people were bustling around them, frantically removing their make-up, energetically mussing their hair, delicately moisturizing them, perfectly re-make-up-ing them and hastily re-doing their hair, all at the same time! There must have been 8 to 10 people mobilized per girl. Total hysteria in the room. And yet everything seemed so well organized, with no rush from the hairdressers and make-up artists, as if the whole thing had been choreographed to the millimeter. So if you want beautiful waves, all you have to do is braid your hair into two plaits, spray them excessively with Elnett hairspray, then "toast" your braids with a straightener, leave for 30 minutes, unravel your braids and TA-DA! I'll let you try it for me...
The show was absolutely insane, and I managed to position myself in such a way as to be able to film the collection, because quite honestly, if I'd stayed where I was initially supposed to be, I'd have been able to film you from the ceiling; so when the lights went down, I elbowed my way down a few steps, finding a place on the stairs. From where I stood, I could see Madame Rykiel's red hair in the front row. Miranda Kerr set the tone as she opened the show: camel, beige, cream, powder pink, coral, winter would be sweet at Rykiel. Mongolian furs are brushed, so that the fur becomes fluffy, like a reinterpretation of the brand's emblematic Marabout coat. Obviously sublime knitwear, with all-over jacquard motifs, a complete silhouette covered with the word "moi". It makes you wonder whether Geraldo da Conceicao, the brand's artistic director, isn't keen to make his presence felt at the head of the house's design department... A very fine collection, it's confirmed, the next generation is assured, but I'm still disappointed to see the models no longer laughing and sparkling like they used to.
Between two shows, I head off to see the Tommy Hilfiger presentation, as I wasn't lucky enough to go to New York this winter to see the show, so I drop by their showroom for a catch-up session. It's becoming clearer by the day that winter will be colorful, and at Tommy it's going to be plaid, the good Canadian trapper plaid, please! Patch pocket skirt alert... ( see video above!)
And then Tsumori Chisato, I could talk about it for hours... I was incredibly lucky to be able to attend the last fittings before the show, the make-up and hair tests, and of course the backstage and during the show, I was able to be placed with the photographers, the à is really the best spot to take decent videos and photos.
It was really crazy to be able to attend such confidential moments, which always gives me a little adrenaline rush, and makes me feel so privileged... (Thanks Jun!) But to be honest with you, having worked in a fashion house, show eves as serene as those at Tsumori Chisato don't really exist... The showroom was very quiet even though it was full, and everyone was doing their job, once again all very well choreographed. The design studio is based in Japan, and the entire Tsumori team arrives in their Paris showroom a few weeks before the big day to create the show... The bulk of the collection is already ready well in advance, which no doubt explains the calm atmosphere.
The theme of the collection is "winter jungle" - palm trees, toucans, gorillas, bananas - all revisited, not literally and not in the first degree, but rather in the thousandth degree... The collection is completely crazy, but personally, I could see myself wearing a purple or green toucan sweater, a black banana-sleeve sweater, a bottle-green coat with gorilla teeth as pocket piping, without any problem...
In terms of hair and make-up, I have the impression that the brief was for ANN, the beautiful blonde from King Kong (the 1933 film), a little pin-up, but a little wild too... with over-glamorous curls, blurred false squares, grey smoky eyes and beautiful red mouths... I confess, I loved this make-up...
