Here I'm wearing the teddy made with the pattern Wear Lemonade in pink velvet and liberty lining purchased from Ma Petite Mercerie. Photo Pauline Darley.
Happy Friday my little cats!
Oh la la la thank you so much for welcoming the new collection! I'm taking the time to respond to all your words of love, questions and disappointments about the lack of colors this afternoon! Today, I'd like to give you a closer look at the Rosa teddy jacket! Rosa is your new friend to slip under your coat, to spice up any outfit that's a little sad, so it's available ready-made in gray gabardine with little stars, as well as in pink satin a la Grease on the e-shop. But you can also take the plunge and make Rosa yourself with the sewing pattern and the video below!
I'm not going to hide the fact that it's quite long, and you need a good dose of self-confidence for the lining! Lining is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but thanks to our pattern chief Laure, everything went off without a hitch! A reader told me: "You'll see, it's addictive, and you'll feel like lining everything! Anyway, you can also imagine stopping just before lining and gimping all the seams with bias tape, but really, cats, don't give up and give it a go, because it's really worth it!
And then I wanted to tell you, we read your comments on the previous launch post about the fixed €4.50 shipping costs, whether for a garment or a pattern. Well, we've recently sorted out our problems with La Poste !!!!! Youhou, after 9 months of untold hardship, we've made it through in one piece. And the mantra "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" really comes into its own with La Poste! So today, delivery costs to France for one boss are €3, for 2 it's €4, and for 3 bosses it's €4.50! Over the coming weeks, we'll be updating all patterns Pdf of the e-shop to standardize the collection, with your feedback!
A few things to know about this pattern:
- The degree of difficulty of the pattern is: "It's going to be cottony", but it all depends on your courage, because it's the assembly of the lining to the garment that can be complicated, and you can very well finish your teddy with a pretty bias and leave it unlined.
- For a teddy, you need to allow for 1.70m of fabric consumption in a 1m45 width fabric (classic width of a roll of fabric). We recommend a fabric that's not too stretchy - why not velvet, flannel, a wool that's not too thick, jacquard...? For the lining, 1.50m is enough, and for beginners we recommend a printed cotton poplin (so you can tell right from wrong).
- You'll also need a little fusible webbing to stiffen a few parts, such as the neckline, collar and perhaps your cuffs and waistband. You'll need about 0.50m of medium fusible webbing, 6 snaps or buttons and 3cm of elastic. Elastic quantities depend on your size, so please refer to the booklet!
- A reminder, because it's always a good idea to note it here: in all patterns Wear Lemonadepatterns, the seam allowance is included in the pattern and is one centimetre!
And last but not least! The paper patterns include a new golden ticket! This time it's online haberdashery Ma Petite Mercerieis offering you a €300 voucher for your purchase on their site! And I've even heard that you can use this voucher to buy a sewing machine on their site... I'm just saying!
