The 10 commandments of the entrepreneur
Hello everyone!
At Studio, we're delighted to be working with Etsy Resolution! Last year, we put together a primer for motivated entrepreneurs, remember! And for this edition, I wanted to illustrate my 10 commandments for entrepreneurs. So we all racked our brains to illustrate!
Ahlala! This article comes just at the right moment in our Lemonade Studio lives. At the moment, we're learning to be patient with recalcitrant suppliers... So we're producing visuals that illustrate the 10 Commandments of the Entrepreneur 2017, drawing inspiration from number 8, which is to remain flexible and adaptable!
Once again this year, Etsy is launching its Resolutions program to support new entrepreneurs as they set about opening their online store. It's a free 4-week training course, full of good advice and tips from people who've already been there! Registrations are closing fast! Head over there before January 27 to be part of the 2017 vintage of Etsy Resolution!
First and foremost, I'd like to share a great exercise with you so I can do my bit! Not long ago, I tried my hand at this super rewarding one: writing the story of your company, the manifesto of your business. In this text, I tried to record Wear Lemonade's identity, a bit like a graphic charter for a logo, but with the main lines and pillars of the company. This text should be read and reread, and shared without moderation, to help people understand the company's history, and always referred to in case of doubt when making a decision!
In addition to being a great communication tool for your website's apropos or to slip into your company's power point presentation.
It's really been a great exercise because what I've learned lately is that my ideas are always clear in my head, but it's another story to communicate them, because you know there's more than one of us down there... And to be clearer, I write them down in black and white or draw them... I'll share this little text with you soon for Wear Lemonade, I promise!
Here are Lemonade Studio's 10 tips for surviving this crazy adventure of being your own boss!
1# Learn
One of the keys to success is to never rest on your laurels, to learn so you can always reinvent yourself!
2# Take risks
Be careful not to take ill-considered risks, but there are times in your entrepreneurial life when decisions have to be made, and to grow, you have to be bold enough to take things to the next level!
3# Be unique
Don't try to follow in the footsteps of another successful company - make your own path! It can be terribly paralyzing to compare yourself all the time. Free yourself from this competition, and you'll ask yourself fewer questions and move forward faster!
4# Surround yourself
Very quickly, you'll realize that it's a major asset for the success of your business. Whether it's a question of teaming up or delegating, this will enable you to focus on your core business!
5# Try again
Not all days are rosy, I'm not going to lie to you! When you're an entrepreneur, perseverance and patience are your best allies, so you can pick yourself up and try again tomorrow!
6# Look after your visuals
Whether you're responding to a call for tenders for a service, or selling things on the Internet, don't forget that in this age of hyper-instantaneity, form is just as important as content, so be precise and perfectionist!
7# Share
Whether it's to make yourself known or to gather points of view, be present on social networks. They're wonderful vectors of communication, but beware: after a certain hour, pick up the phone!
8# Adapt
Whether you're working in a team full of different personalities or with suppliers who don't always have their feet on the ground, you're going to have to be flexible and always be able to reach a consensus if you want to work serenely!
9# Take care of yourself
It's important to take a break every now and then! Slow down and give yourself a real break, to free up your brain's bandwidth, and don't feel guilty while you're at it!
10# Celebrate!
Celebrate every little victory! Every day, you'll have your head in the sand, trying to sort out all the messy situations, and it's easy to miss out on the little joys and great news! Champagne!
