Frida inspirations
Hola!
The themed week starts here! And after a week of polka dots, mint and neon pink, this time I'm moving on to something a little more substantial, if I may say so... FRIDA KAHLO, you're bound to know her, she's this wonderful surrealist Mexican artist from the 30s, 40s and even 50s, you might say. She was the wife of the runner and very committed artist Diego Rivera, her life was a chain of untold dramas, but she remained upright, beautiful and faithful to her ideals. I'm not going to give you her bio, even though I have a thousand stories about her. Read all about her life and you'll be amazed. For those who don't have the time to read... Watch the film! Frida by Julie Taymor, starring Salma Hayek. Personally, I cry all the way through. Well, for obvious reasons, such as the fact that I'm not an art history teacher and have no pretensions when it comes to contemporary art, I'm going to focus on much more trivial and light-hearted things about this woman, her style.... Which was so typically Mexican and yet so very her own... You'll see there's an incredible Frida craze, for the last few years, for ever... I'm won over...
