THE DIY OF THE LEMON EIFFEL TOWER
Hello My little cats!
I'm so happy to announce that Lorenzo P. is back for Lemon Week with an adorable DIY! I hope you like it, so get scissoring my birds!
Lisa
Today I'd like you to make a little Eiffel Tower in Lemon Week colors! I recently made a paper model for the credits of the series "Les aventuriers de l'art moderne" and that gave me the idea for this DIY. Don't worry, I'm offering you a simplified, slightly stylized version of this famous monument. You should be able to complete it in just half a day!
For this DIY you'll need
- - two A4 sheets of colored paper (90-120g),
- - notched tile scissors (yes, I love those!),
- - scissors,
- - a cutter or scalpel,
- - cutting board,
- - a little glue,
- - a ruler or reglet,
- - Download patterns here and here.
Start by printing the patterns on your colored sheets.
Use a cutter or scalpel to cut out the inner diamonds before cutting out anything else. It's easier and prevents you from distorting your paper during this step. There are around 200 diamonds in all, so to go faster, cut by grouping parallel lines. You'll save time by rotating your blade and sheet as little as possible, and you'll save money by simplifying your movements as much as possible. If you really don't have the patience, or if you want to do this DIY with a child, don't cut out the lozenges, just leave them printed. The Eiffel Tower won't look so light, but it'll still be recognizable. Now we're going to prepare the first floor of the tower: mark the fold with a cutter and ruler, following the dotted lines. It's a simple step that multiplies the care of your model by 20.
Cut with scissors along the black lines. Here's our first floor, ready to take on volume!
Fold the dotted lines, glue the tabs, and voilà.
Repeat with the other floors.
Glue the floors together!
Cut, fold and glue the heart-shaped hat.
Now that your Eiffel Tower is looking good, let's move on to the finishing touches: cut a few strips from the scraps of paper using the cutter, and cut them out using the serrated scissors.
Glue these strips, tiles side down, at the joints between floors. It's in the details that finesse is born, so don't hesitate to do this at every level of the tower.
That's all there is to it! Have fun varying the colors too!
Lorenzo P.
