HOW TO SEW JULIETTA PANTS!
I've got good news and bad news for you: the good news is that I'm back! And the bad news is that you definitely can't do everything at once. For a long time, I naively thought I'd be able to run everything at once: the Lemonade Shop and continuing to post articles here as if nothing had happened, but the answer is no, it's impossible to do both well!
Well, it could have been possible, but I don't think I'd have been very talkative... Which isn't really me, because you know me, I've always got a lot to say, all the time...
That's why I'm sorry I'm so late, but today I'm here to give you the step-by-step video of the pants... Julietta. This is the first pattern in the "Midnight bloom" collection, and I promise that the backlog of patterns will be made up with the arrival of the Thelma cape in a couple of weeks, so I'll have plenty to show you at Créations et Savoir faire!
I also wanted to tell you that we're all more than delighted that you loved Julietta, as it's the first time we've tried our hand at a trouser pattern, and it's sure to be an experience to be repeated! For the next collection, I've even got a pair of trouser dungarees in mind... Like every year at the end of the year, I like to ask you which garment pattern you'd like to sew, so don't hesitate to share your wildest desires with me in the comments.
Without further ado, I'll leave you with the Julietta video, and from experience, avoid choosing a fabric that's too thin, like cotton poplin (which is what we did...), even though I'm sure it'll be a dream to wear this summer, despite the hassle of ironing it!
For JuliettaFor as long as I can remember, I've always been very apprehensive about sewing pants, and for a long time it's been my bête noire when it comes to fitting sleeves and zips: the trouser crotch! But fortunately my sweet Laure the pattern queen proved once again that nothing is insurmountable, and I put Julietta together with disconcerting speed, I assure you.
If you set out a few months ago to assemble the Carlotta shorts, the fly should hold no secrets for you and you'll be able to assemble the pants in a snap. I'm really looking forward to assembling Julietta in a crazy color of velvet, mint green or mustard yellow, as I'm already hooked on the white ribbed version available on Wearlemonade. And to tell you the truth, I didn't have time to pick up the Pavone version because you were far too quick (the strict truth is that my mother stole my "copy").
What you need to know about this pattern :
- To make Juliettafor the largest size, you will need 2m of fabric in one width. 1m40 or 2m50 for 1m10 wool
- I advise you to choose a fabric that holds together a little, such as gabardine, corduroy, men's suit fabric, soft jeans, or for a different style, crepe.
- Very important it's essential to keep to the straight and narrow! And if you choose a pattern such as checks or stripes, beware of placement at the side seams and buttocks!
- Seam allowances are always one centimeter, as on all our patterns!
- You'll need a 20 cm pants zipper in a color coordinated with your fabric, as well as staples (two is better, to be applied by hand)!
- You can use a little fusible webbing for the waistband if necessary.
- And, of course, the paper pattern is available here, and for those who prefer a pdf subscription, it's at here.
