FASHION WEEK PARIS #2
My little cats,
I'm back with a little report on my day on Thursday: Carven and Thomsen... A rediscovery and a crush... Originally, I was only going to go to the Carven show, but thanks to my super friend Nelly Chatagnon of the blog Make my beautyI was able to go backstage to watch her work and gloat over the ultra glossy eyebrows... I have a passion for big eyebrows, colored eyebrows and, since Carven, for "wet" eyebrows. Granted, the last two options aren't easy in everyday life. But I'd be happy to spend 24 hours with pink eyebrows, just to give you an extreme report, in short....
The Carven show is absolutely insane, incredible detail work, the cut, the collars, the XL belts, touches of leopard, it's always so much love for Carven. I have a feeling that next winter will be colorful, and that's great news: yellow, pink, "1950" blue, leopard. Special mention for the furs embroidered with rhinestone arrows, absolutely sublime. I've also seen arrows everywhere on the internets... DIY to think about.
And then there's the cold shower when it comes to footwear: while some shout "genius", I'm more than a little skeptical about the XL waders. They're not moulax sock waders, but rather giant rain waders that have been tightened on the upper thigh while retaining their original volume. Unless you're 1m80 tall and haven't eaten since 2001, I'm not sure that's flattering, and then again, it's not even for sure. But the good news is that from where I was sitting, it didn't particularly jump out at me - these girls are so tall, all I could see was the color and pattern of their outfits. Hallelujah! I'll let you judge for yourself by watching the video, oh yes, and look at that brilliant way she wears her clutch over her heart...
The day could have ended there, but Nelly tells me that she's in charge of make-up for the Thomsen presentation, the brand of her friend Alix Thomsen, and that if I feel like it, I can come and be my little mouse in the backstage area... (more photos to be found on my Pinterest).
For me, Thomsen remained a beautiful brand of shirts and underwear, whose presentations were always crazy. In fact, it was she who, a few seasons ago, staged a choir presentation, with the title written for her by Séverin "J'aime ma chemise", video (thanks Domino Lattès). So, of course, I was really tempted! I arrived at the Galerie Perrotin in a small room crowded with around forty people, make-up artists, hairdressers, models and my beloved Mai, whom I found here by chance (I've missed out on the discreet little mouse aspect!). The girls are real girls, not models, which makes them 100 times more beautiful. As for the styling, I can't believe it, I feel like Alix has entered my rags-to-riches fantasies. Everything is so right, so colorful, so offbeat, so tasteful. I want it all. The shirts are still there, but the knits are just as present and there are some crazy sleeved pieces (yellow coat alert and pink wool perfecto....).
Make-up-wise, Nelly and Alexandra are just too good. I want to wear yellow on my eyes as a diffused eyeliner, with a beautiful orange lipstick... Dior baby blue on the nails... Bold combinations! Pfff I can't get over that afternoon.
As for the presentation, the girls played out little scenes all over the Galerie Perrotin, and you could really feel that these young women were having fun playing "Thomsen classics". Impertinent and funny, Mai said to me, it's very Rykiel, from the great Sonia Rykiel era... it's very accurate, don't you think?
