MAKING OF WEAR LEMONADE ACT V
Hello lemons!
Tomorrow part of the collection will be available for pre-order on the Wear Lemonade e-shop! I can't wait to tell you all about this collection, which is so special to me, to us. In fact, it's the first collection of the year, so we wanted to do things differently. For this "Can't take my eyes off you" collection, we wanted to choose noble, soft and beautiful materials. We worked on the cuts and the details, so that we could offer you different clothes that you won't find anywhere else, knowing where they come from and under what conditions they were made.
On reflection, I realized that I'd never told you that we work directly with our manufacturers, that there are no intermediaries between the hands and hearts that make our designs and you who wear them... Well, yes, there are always ours, who get busy, take photos, check measurements, try on and then prepare your orders. By cutting out the middleman as much as possible, we're able to offer you a different kind of fashion, one that's not seen everywhere and isn't exorbitantly expensive, because between us and your clothes, no one charges the price on the tags. Today we are, and have the ambition to remain, the sole distributor of Wear Lemonade.
Why am I telling you all this? Well, because this year, we intend to work only with beautiful materials and select only fabrics that make our hearts beat faster. So that when you touch them at home, you'll be enchanted. Of course, this will have an economic impact, but once again, I think it's important for you to bear in mind that we're not textile giants, and that as well as being committed to offering you fair prices, we take great care over the choice of materials and the conditions in which your garments are made.
Because even though we're a drop in the bucket in this industry, I'm convinced that we can make a difference. I think it's very complicated to propose 100% Green fashion, because as true lovers of "La Mode" at Lemonade Studio, there are materials that we love, but whose traceability and origin it's very difficult to verify. Even if we chose organic cotton, the carbon footprint of getting it to our factories would be enormous, so unfortunately I'm afraid things will never be "perfect" AND "affordable". However, they will always be made with passion and the fairest possible approach, both for you and for our partners.
This January, we went on a lemon delegation to Macedonia and Portugal, to follow our production and meet the hands and hearts that make your clothes. Our factories were recommended to us, and agreed to be our partners, as our productions remain very limited series. But I'm convinced that our designs are a recreation for them! It has been a truly incredible experience to meet these people, to discover family stories with Rudy and his children, Andrej, Vladimir, Persida but also Tiago, Anna, Marlien, and of course the hands of all these men and women, without whom none of this would be possible.
Here's a sneak preview of the new collection and the pieces that will be arriving on the e-shop very soon! I'd like to thank Pauline Darley for continuing to accompany us on these photo shoots, which are always the icing on the cake for us! Thanks to Nelly from Make My Beauty and Patrice Delaroche of l'atelier 21 for sublimating sweet Anne Lise. Many thanks to Olitax for this crazy film, and for his aerial courage. Thanks to Rudy for being our guide, and thanks to Tiago and Anna for their hospitality. And a big thank you to Laure for her perseverance. Also a big thank you to The Nodz for the music and to Made.com for the carpet!
