PARIS EST UNE FÊTE

My little cats, my little chestnuts...

We had planned to post this a little later for Christmas, but now we told ourselves in the Studio that it was appropriate, that we had to celebrate Paris as a matter of urgency... Because in the end I think it's become a bit of our mission to make you dream, to show you that nothing is impossible, so we're going to keep posting, to keep lifting our heads, for you, and above all for ourselves! I found this image on Pinterest and then searched Youtube for tutorials. In the end I wasn't really satisfied with the procedure, so I made my "lemonade" and here's this painstaking but easy little DIY!

For this DIY you'll need:

- featherboard ( 1 sheet of 50 x 65 cm will do),
- 2 sheets of white paper, grape size, approx. 100 g,
- 1 meter of yellow LED, found at Leroy Merlin for 15 euros,
- green glue,
- scalpel, ruler and pins.

Start by cutting the featherboard as follows download this plan here.

We'll then assemble the box using pins. Be careful to follow this order. Take the bottom of the box and, using a scalpel, remove a 1.5cm x 1.5cm square from one of the corners.

Next, take the two longer sides that will form the bottom and top of your box, and secure them with the pins by sandwiching the bottom of the box. Do the same with the shorter sides of the box, aligning them with the bottom and top of the box, then secure them with the pins.

Now place the luminous LED in the bottom of the box - there's often a self-adhesive backing under the LED strip, so it's easy to do! Place the strip at the bottom, on all four sides of the box.

Ta-Da, you can admire your illuminated box! Next, take a 2cm-long chopstick and place it on the bottom of the box, to act as a wedge for the different layers of paper.

Now it's time for the paper Paris! Download the different Paris visuals here and print them directly on the thick paper, especially on the reverse side! Use your scalpel to hollow out all the windows and building silhouettes! Yes, yes, it's going to take a while, but it's worth it!

Once you've got your 8 layers, we'll move on to the paper mille-feuille! Start at the bottom with the moon, or use pins to create stars!

Once you've cut out your "Paris" layers, glue the thin strips of featherboard to the back and sides of the paper. Start by gluing the cardboard from the top, at roof level, to the bottom of the building (as in the 2nd photo).
