SEWING FABRICS: COTTON
Hello the sewing girls (and boys)!
Since we started the Wear Lemonade patterns, many of you are writing me everyday to share with me their doubts and ask for tips... One question is recurrent: which fabric do I have to choose for my pattern? I think it is time now to open a new section here, only dedicated to fabrics. Let's start with an unconditional one: cotton!
What is it? It is a vegetal fiber that comes from a plant. Right now I am not teaching you anything. This fiber is easy to work with, not affected by friction or hot water and is hypoallergenic. It is the perfect fabric for everyone, from babies to adults.
How do we recognize it? It burns "free of smoke", leaves a grey edge and has a no unpleasant smell.
What can we do with cotton? We can do everything we want with cotton: from children's clothes to men's shirts or even evening dresses. It is a real advantage! As the fiber is natural, it can be dyed all over again. Cotton can sometimes be mixed with other fibers in order to extend its use: cotton/silk, cotton/linen, cotton/wool, cotton/elastane, and so on...
What weaving to choose? Cotton is multifunctional and can take different aspects. For the summer season, if you want to realize dresses and blouses, we advise you poplin and voile that are thin weaving. The voile (net curtains) is a bit more transparent. If you want to have a more structured fabric, do not hesitate to find thicker voile. For pants or mid-season jackets, take twill (thin diagonal lines). For those who prefer soft fabrics for winter, you can take velvet (be careful with the quality because cheap velvet looses its hairs easily) or flannel (brushed fabric on the reverse side). If you want to obtain stretch or soft clothes, you can use jersey that is not a woven fabric but a knitted one!
I hope these answers will help you and I see you very soon for our next pattern launch, the Malia dress!

A MOVEABLE FEAST[:]
My little kitties, my little chestnuts...
We planned to post this DIY a bit later for Christmas but at the Studio we thought it would be a good idea to share it with you right now in order to celebrate Paris... Finally, I think that making you dream and showing you that nothing is impossible are part of our mission so we continue to post, for you but also for ourselves! I found this image on Pinterest and then I also look for some tutorials on YouTube. I wasn't really convinced so I made my own "lemonade" and here is a meticulous but easy DIY!
For this DIY you need:
- - Cardboard (50x65cm)
- - 2 white paper sheets (50x65cm) around 100g
- - 1m of yellow LED (we found ours at Leroy Merlin for €15)
- - Some glue
- - A scalpel, ruler and pins
Start to cut the cardboard following this plan.
We are now going to create the box thanks to some pins. Be careful to do it in the following order. Take the bottom of the box and using a scalpel, take a 1.5x1.5cm square off on one of the corners.
Then, you are going to take the two longer sides that will form the top and the bottom of your box and fix them with pins to the first side. Do the same with the smallest sides of the box aligning them with the top and bottom sides and fix them with pins too.
Now place the LED into the box. There is often an adhesive part under so it is easier to fix it! Put it at the bottom of the box on each 4 sides.
Here we are, you can now admire your light box! Then, take a small 2cm stick and put it at the bottom of the box in order to fix all the different sheets of paper.
It's now time to create Paris in paper! Download the different visuals of Paris here and print them directly on the thick paper (on the reverse side)! Using a scalpel, create all the windows and buildings silhouettes! It is going to take some time but it's really worth it!
Once you have your 8 different pieces, we are going to put them all together! Start with the background with the moon. You can also make some stars with pins!
Once you have cut all your "Paris" pieces, you are going to stick the cardboard strips on the back of the paper, on the different sides. Start from the top (at the rooftop level) to the bottom of the building (2nd picture).
Cut the part of the stick that is not needed with a scalpel. Repeat the operation for each piece!
I know it takes a lot of time but the result is more than magical!
You will have a big sandwich of "Paris" pieces that you are going to put inside of the cardboard box.
For the final touch, you are going to stick the thick paper frame on the outside of the box.
Switch on the light and here we are!

LET'S TRY
I really was wondering if I should write something here or not. I have come to the conclusion that I had to speak about it because it makes me so nervous. I am not writing you as Make My Lemonade but as a human being who has a heart. Since last Friday, my heart is broke... as well as yours I guess. I will not tell you how I am handling it because all the people I know who were there or who have been witnesses, are "fine" by chance... I just wanted to tell you that we could not be scared, we must continue to live, do and move on for ourselves but also for the others... I am not telling you that we cannot be sad, but we cannot be afraid because we do not want these monsters to win. I do not know what tomorrow will be made of but I just hope we will not face another "again". For those who "are staying" it is the beginning of a fight and no amalgam is allowed. We have to keep doing, loving, talking, making, and celebrating. It is probably easier to write this rather than doing it but at least we can try. For all my little kitties at the studio, for my friends and family, for you who took some time to read me, let's make all of this less ugly. We need to share and stick together.
I send all my love and thoughts to everyone who lost someone on Friday the 13th of November and to those who are still looking for good news...
Lisa
Thank you Lorenzo Papace for letting me use this picture.

HAPPY FRIDAY #78
Happy Friday my little chickens!
Wow wow wow!!! You have been so many to come yesterday at our doors open night! Thank you for all this love, you are so inspiring! You gave me hundreds of ideas and I couldn't stop smiling, thank you again! The girls and I have been so happy to meet you, listen to your questions and try to answer to them at best! I think we are going to organize other special days like this in 2016 and then maybe each month! By the way, I am already thinking about the possible developments on citron.makemylemonade.com and it can be a good idea to add an online calendar to keep you informed about our doors open nights, workshopsclothing and patterns launches on Wear Lemonade!
I also wanted to create a kind of chat page about sewing... and since yesterday I am sure you are going to like it! I am thinking of a "forum" system where you will be able to ask all your questions and where all the Wear Lemonade community and us could answer! I am using quotation marks because I don't really like this word. It makes me think about the Doctissimo website... I really want to create a glamorous and lemony forum! 2016 is going to be busy!
However, 2016 seems far away from us! Before talking about next year, I would like to tell you that we are already preparing Christmas time: dozens of DIYs to do your Christmas presents! Moreover, we are also creating a mini stationary collection in a very limited edition: a diary, a notepad and nice cards for the end of year, and other surprises!!!! I will tell you more about it soon!
In order not to spoil you everything, I will talk to you about Julie, Rosa and Karuna too... Last weekend, with the sweet Julie Perrotwe went to the Buttes Chaumont to test her new camera. It was warm and I couldn't believe that we were in November. I wore my Wear Lemonade Rosa teddy because it is the perfect jacket to wear under a coat to twist a total black winter look! By the way, I can now announce you that we opened a new Instagram account just for WearLemonade! Yeah! This account is dedicated to the clothing and patterns collections but also to Christmas surprises, news, backstage and previews... We will also ask for your opinion about some patterns and share with you the collection process!
For this Happy Friday, I am wearing a Karuna flower that comes from my wedding crown, Sarenza sandals, &Otherstories socks, a lace dress from Topshop and the pink Rosa teddy. From now to Sunday (the 15th at midnight): free shipping if you order a teddy (the grey or pink one) with the code: ROSAFOREVER. I send you big kisses!

THE "CLEAR CONSCIENCE" BAR RECIPE
Hello my little chestnuts!
I hope you are enjoying your sunny day off. It feels like we didn't have such a warm weather for a long time in Paris. Today, I am going to share with you a seasonal recipe, with vitamins and good sugar, just to enjoy a sweet snack or a huge breakfast without feeling guilty! The agave syrup on the granola is a vegan recipe that does not need to be cooked. You just need a good blender and a fridge. What more can we ask for? I hope you will like it! I send you big kisses and see you tomorrow!
Cereals part:
- - 4 tablespoons of clementine juice (those with leaves and from Corsica are the best)
- - 2 tablespoons of coconut powder
- - 2 tablespoons of sunflower seeds
- - 200g of pitted dates
- - 70g of nuts
- - 70g of almonds
Creamy part:
- - 125ml of coconut milk
- - 100g of cashew nuts (leave them into water for one night)
- - 40g of coconut powder
- - 2 tablespoons of agave syrup
- - Slices of fresh clementines to decorate!
In a blender, mix all the ingredients needed for the cereals part until you obtain a sticky mixture that you will be able to detach easily from the robot. In a mold, put some backing paper. Introduce the cereals mixture in the bottom of the mold and flatten it by hand. It is so much easier than using a glass. Leave it to cool in the fridge.
For the creamy part, grind cashew nuts using a blender (previously drained) with coconut powder. Then, slowly introduce coconut milk and agave syrup and keep mixing until you obtain a smooth dough. Take the cereals preparation out of the fridge and spread uniformly the cream on it. Put some coconut powder and leave it to cool for 2h.
Take the mold out of the fridge 15 minutes before the degustation. During this time, cut and decorate the bars with thin slices of clementines. With a knife, create rectangular bars. Do not forget to clean your knife each time you want to cut a bar in order to obtain a precise result. Enjoy!

MUSING YSL PART 1
I am wearing a My little Paris scarf, a Zara shirt, vintage pants from Urban Outfitters, Patricia Blanchet glitter shoes, bracelets I brought from India and a huge flower from Karuna Balloo (makeup credits at the end of the post).
Hello my kitties!
I would like to tell you another story...again... Everything started when I was a little girl at the Saint-Michel flea market. Indeed, my women gang (mother, aunt, and sister) and I were there on a Sunday morning and my mother and sister exclaimed, "It is a Saint Laurent!" My sister found the Grail, high-waisted YSL pants. I guessed it was probably a treasure... I really was wondering was YSL meant... Then, on a Wednesday, I was watching TV in my grandparents kitchen and Jean-Pierre Pernaud talked about Van Gogh sunflowers that were embroidered on Yves Saint Laurent dresses... After that, at the stade de France fashion show for the World Cup final, Carla Bruni wore a wonderful bird dress... I do not remember how I felt but I just know that something must happened because I keep this moment as a strong memory.... Maybe something like "Wow, when I grow up, I also would like to draw birds dresses..."
I am wearing a Donia Allegue turban, a dress from Dress Galleryvintage pants from Urban Outfitters, Patricia Blanchet glitter shoes, bracelets I brought from India and a huge flower from Karuna Balloo (makeup credits at the end of the post).
Then I came to Paris and the Duperre School. I knew what YSL meant and during all these past years I studied the Mister Saint Laurent genius, I learnt what was a logotype, discovered the work of the designer and illustrator Cassandre... Anyway, studying Saint Laurent work is like revising all the Art History. Moreover, more than being a simple student, I was also a designer assistant... I am using suspension points because it was not a dream job but I discovered hundreds of designers and fabrics I never heard about before! One day, in 2008, when I went to Colette for the first time to do some shopping, I stopped in the Saint Honore Street near by the Saint Roch church, the artist one. In the street, there were a giant screen and lots of black cars. It was Mister Saint Laurent funerals and I remember myself staying there looking at the ceremony, very moved with my blue polka dots bags. Life goes on but this event had an impact on me...
I am wearing a Donia Allegue turban, with a Karuna Balloo flower, an Alain Figaret shirt, pants from FrenchTrottersvintage necklaces, and birds rings I brought from Thailand (makeup credits at the end of the post).
I kept me smiling until 2009 when I visited my aunt in New York. She talked to me about a movie projection about Chanel ateliers at the French alliance auditorium. I went there and the man in charge of the projection didn't find the right reel so we watched a documentary about Mister Saint Laurent work... Then, I finished my studies. I felt very depressed because I didn't have much to do other than to send resumes and wait for a miracle. Finally my miracle was my roommate, a blond angel who came home one night telling me "I met a super guy who works at Saint Laurent and he is looking for an assistant. He is the collection coordinator at the men studio".
I am wearing Argument earrings, a pullover and pants from La Redoute and a Zara light trench coat (makeup credits at the end of the post).
I sent my resume and I didn't have any news until the day... The Human Resources Director called me while I was with my mom visiting the Yves Saint Laurent retrospective at the Grand Palais... Then it was 2 interviews and 18 extraordinary months working and learning so much with amazing people... Just to say that when YSL beauty called me a few months ago to ask me to get into the characters of Saint Laurent muses, I was so happy! The idea was to reinterpret Loulou de la Falaise and Betty Catroux roles in a 2.0 version. It was so nice to imagine today's outfits to pay tribute to these women who influenced his work...
I am wearing Argument earrings, a Tara Jarmon shirt, pants from La Redoute and a Urban Outfitters jacket (makeup credits at the end of the post).
For the shooting, I had the chance to work with the YSL beauty team and the so talented makeup artist Emilio Benedetti and his sweet assistant Cyrielle Favreau. Pauline Darley took the pictures! It was so much fun to imagine two ambiances, two characters, the makeup and the outfits! It was a great moment and we shooted the second part of the muse story on the next day at Pauline's studio! I cannot wait to show you what is coming next!
Thank you Muriel for your trust! Thank you La Conserverie for having us for the "Loulou" set and "Le Bonne Nouvelle" bar for the "Betty" one...
I am wearing Argument earrings, and a vintage shirt (makeup credits at the end of the post).

DOORS OPEN NIGHT AT THE LEMONADE STUDIO
Hello my little kitties, chestnuts and sweet friends...
Today I am writing you this post to talk to you about what is going on here... The Lemonade Studio is evolving and constantly moving and I think it is what really defines our lives at the office. We move the furniture, reorganize the space, welcome new faces, question ourselves, and take a stand. Things are happening but it is good because I think we grow up this way. I finally realize that we are a real company with all that it involves, between Make My Lemonade, Wear Lemonade and my "Lisa Gachet" activities. We have to plan and anticipate, and it is not easy for me because I always live in the moment but I also really like that because it is so nice to imagine what is coming next and think about my next dreams. I have to admit that it is great to grow up and I am often wondering why do I really want to do and why I am doing it. It keeps me on the good way. I also advise you to think about it if you want to start the entrepreneurship adventure: "Why am I doing it?" Keep asking you this question until you find the simplest answer. It has to be your driving force. I am going to give you a basic example:
- - Why am I starting this adventure?
- - Because I do not want to have a boss anymore and to do what I really like > Why?
- - To be free > Why?
- - To be happy.
It is a bit ambitious and crazy but my life goal to be happy is to run my own company to make people happy to work with me, and I also want people to be happy to wear Wear Lemonade clothes, make Wear Lemonade clothes and read Make My Lemonade. Welcome to my fairytale. My objective is to make people happy.
While looking for the answer to the question "how to make people happy?" I got an idea and I cannot wait to share it with you! Since we moved to our new big office, I know that this space is also perfect to meet you. You already have the opportunity to pick your orders at the studio but sometimes I know you would like to stay a bit longer... For this reason, I wanted to organize a doors open day!
Why? You can just come to say 'hi', drink a lemonade, ask us some questions, try our pieces on, share new posts ideas, meet, and why not telling me what makes you happy?
Save the date: Thursday the 12th of November at the studio from 5:30pm to 8:30pm (80 rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis 75010 Paris)! To get all the info you need to get in, do not forget to subscribe to the newsletter. We will send you our access codes on Thursday during the day. I have no idea of what is it going to look like but I cannot wait to meet you!

JONAK X WEAR LEMONADE III
Pictures by Pauline Darley, Pink Pierrot model.
Hello my little kitties!
Today, I am going to talk to you about the collaboration with Jonak that has been launched last Friday! We kept the pink attitude and it wasn't a bad idea when we see the weather we have right now... During a week, you discovered the 7 models on Instagram and what a wonderful welcome! We now almost would like to make our own shoes! Thank you for your words and pictures; I just love to see your photos on the social media. Do not forget to use the #jonakxwearlemonade to share your pictures so that we can see them all! Jonak told me that they will restock the shoes during the week on their eshop and that there are still sizes and colors available at the Galeries Lafayette in Paris...
I promised to show you the backstage of the collection so here they are! I had the opportunity to go to Portugal, follow the final prototypes production and it was a magic experience. I already went to a shoe factory once but it is always a unique and wonderful moment for me. When I am there, with my camera around my neck, I always have the sensation that I am where I should be. It is a real pleasure to see the manufacturing process of the things I imagined and I find it even a bit moving to see my ideas coming to life...
This day in Porto was very short but I had to observe and remember as much as I could to transport you with me there. We went to the Jonak factory with Marie, the creative director of the brand. We were like children! I really like to visit factories, see the workers in action and share with them because they are always happy to show us their knowhow and the best they are capable of. It is often unreal and timeless moments. This day, I followed a man, who didn't speak English, (and I still don't speak Portuguese either) so we communicated with smiles and gestures. The cherry on the cake...he was the doppelganger of the grandpa in the "UP" movie!
I really want to make more making of videos now, to show you the backstage of Wear Lemonadevisit our own factories because finally the elaboration and construction of the collection are the most exciting steps... Well, I am lying a bit because I also love to imagine the photoshoots... As you can see, I am just in love with my job!
Pauline Darley took the pictures! For each model, we imagined a "love mood": studious lover with her Nino sleepers, tomboy with Pierrotfurious in Gino... By the way, in the shoe boxes you will find a note! I let you discover them in your polka dots boxes! For every photoshoot, I want to go further and try to challenge us! For this one, I asked my friend Audrey Roehrichwho is a super cool and talented dance teacher, to help Pauline Darley, Nathan Cahen and me with the choreography!
The collection is available in the following shops:
- - Lyon - 4 rue Grenette,
- - Bordeaux - 12 place des Grands Hommes,
- - Marseille - CC Terrasses du Port,
- - Cannes - 131 rue d'Antibes,
- - Cagnes sur Mer - CC Polygone Riviera,
- - Paris 6ème - 70 rue de Rennes,
- - Paris 16ème - 41 rue de Passy,
- - Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann
- And on the E-shop of Jonak!
Thank you everyone for your support! Thank you Marcel, Marie and Roxane from Jonak for their trust and availability! I send you big kissed and I cannot wait to read you and see your little foot!

WEAR LEMONADE #10 ROSA TEDDY
I am wearing a pink velvet and liberty-lined teddy made with the Wear Lemonade pattern. Fabrics bought at Ma Petite Mercerie. Pictures by Pauline Darley.
Happy Friday my little kitties!
Thank you so much for welcoming our new collection this way! I will take some time this afternoon to answer to your questions but also disappointments about the lack of colors. Today, I am presenting you the Rosa teddy! Rosa is the perfect jacket you can wear below a coat that is going to pimp a "sad" outfit. You can find it in a grey gabardine version with little stars but also in pink satin (Grease style) on the eshop. You can also try to make your own version of the Rosa teddy thanks to the pattern but also the video down below!
I have to admit that it is a bit long to realize a teddy and you need to be confident for the lining step! I am not very good at lining but with Laure's help it was so much easier! A reader told me: you'll see, it is very addictive, you'll want to sew lining everywhere after that! You can also stop just before but do not give up because it worth it!
We also took care about the remarks you posted for the previous launch about the shipping fees. If you live in France, we can announce you that you are now going to pay €3 for one pattern, €4 for two and €4.50 for three! Another modification we made is about the PDF pattern. We added the instruction booklet to the file that you can download in your Wear Lemonade client account for €2.99. All the PDF patterns are going to be updated in the next weeks!
All you have to know about the pattern:
- You can buy the pattern in a nice packaging with an instruction booklet and a Wear Lemonade tag here for €14.90.
- You can download the PDF version for €2.99. The price changed because the instruction booklet is now included in the file! You can print it in A4 or US letter format.
- The degree of difficulty is: "It is going to be tough" but it depends on your courage because only the lining can be complicated but it is not mandatory to sew it.
- You will need 1.70m of fabric to sew Rosa in a 1.45m width. Do not use a too stretchy fabric. Velvet, flannel, thin woolen fabrics or jacquard can be nice. For the lining, you will need 1.50m of fabric. We advise you to take a printed cotton poplin (so that you will recognize both sides) for the beginners.
- You will also need 0.50m of medium bonding tape for the neckline, cuffs and belt, 6 snap fasteners or buttons and some elastic (3cm width).
- As a reminder, the seam allowance is included in all the Wear Lemonade patterns (= 1cm).
- If you need any help or if you have some questions, do not hesitate to send a message to Laure at [email protected].
As a bonus, one of you is going to find a golden ticket in her/his pattern! You will have the possibility to win a €300 voucher on the Ma Petite Mercerie website! You can even find some sewing machines there...!

WEAR LEMONADE LAUNCH "TO THE MOON
Hello my little kitties!
Today, I am so happy to announce you the launch of our new "To the moon"collection! It is a real pleasure to write you today to talk about the dreams we have at the Studio! I think this collection is our baby... but also yours because we learn everyday and every month with you! A new piece is going to be launched every 15 days because we have a lot to show you before Christmas! I hope you will enjoy wearing our new collection because it was a real pleasure imaging it! It was supposed to be online on the 27th but we were not ready and as we still are a small company, it was better to take 2 more days in order to think about each detail so that you can have a perfect and clean service! I hope you do not mind.
Let me introduce to you the "To the moon and back"Stella sweat (the piece without pattern) and the Rosa teddy.
For those of you who do not know Make My Lemonade, I am going to tell you more about the crazy project we launched 10 months ago!
At the beginning of the year, we launched different sewing patterns sold in a nice packaging, and I can assure you that we have been so surprised at the studio about the feedbacks on our do-it-yourself baby! Three months later, and after 3 pattern launches, we realized that we didn't have enough stocks to answer to your growing demand. Moreover, some of you wanted to wear "Wear Lemonade" pieces but had not enough patience and courage to make their own clothes! At this moment, we decided to continue the patterns but to launch our own clothing line at the same time, with special fabrics. To sell only our products online, in limited editions, allows us to offer you the fairest prices. We have a new theme every 3 months so during this period you can buy our pieces. However, the patterns are always available within the limit of stocks obviously!
In 2016, many accessorize and nice collaborations are going to be added to our collections!
In the meanwhile, our Rosa teddy is now available on Wear Lemonade in a pink satin version with glitter "lemonade" lettering in the back but also in grey with small stars made in a light gabardine. This teddy is the little jacket we can wear with our dresses to "tomboyed" them but also under an opened coat to twist the winter monotony!
Then, there is our favorite piece: the Stella sweat made in a soft fabric with an embroidered typography. Stella exists in 2 colors. By the way, on the product descriptions, I advise you to click on the small numbers, under the main picture, to see other views and details of the clothes! I also remind you that you can order on the website and pick up your order at the studio to say hi! If you don't have time but live in Paris, we now offer you the delivery within 3 hours to be always ready if you have an impromptu evening or a late birthday present to do!
As you may know, you are going to have nice surprises while opening your package. For this collection, we decided to offer you nice postcards of the collection photographed by Pauline Darley but also Nailmatic nail polishes. We chose 7 different colors to match with the collection! I hope you will like them. I send you big kisses and see you tomorrow to talk about the Rosa teddy pattern!
Thank you Pauline Darley for the pictures, Julie Perrot for the video, Nelly from Make My Beauty for the makeup and Lydia for being our muse! Thank you to the amazing girls from the Lemonade Studio, I love you!

WEDDING TO BE CONTINUED
Hello my little kitties!
I firstly wanted to thank you for the astronomic quantity of love you sent to me these days, it is so good; so good to read you, share all my meetings, DIYs with you and more! THANK YOU for your words about this big event, we are not on a cloud anymore but definitely on the moon since then! I still have so many posts to prepare about the wedding, some tips and things that I have tested. For this reason, you will probably find more posts in the "Wedding" section during the next weeks!
While preparing this post and looking at the pictures for the 200 times, I have no regrets at all concerning the place we chose. This under construction house was not perfect at all but it was the perfect metaphor of the life we are building together. We are constantly evolving, trying to find who we are, building new things and it is always a nice mess but finally these imperfections are so good.
In today's post, I would like to sum up all the different key points you need to think about, even if some of them are not mandatory. All of them, during their conception and realization have been a real source of inspiration and joy... I hope they will inspire you and give you ideas for your D-Day!
- Wedding Planer:
Some of my friends, who got married before me, agreed that it is always better to have some help to organize the D-Day in order to enjoy every moment and not caring about logistics. I can only recommend you to work with someone you have a good feeling with and who understands the vision you have about your wedding. For mine, I was very lucky to work with the wonderful Aurelie C. from Bespoke (and I also recommend her). She is a lovely person and the best organizer!
- BeSpokeAurelie Clerbout.
- Photographer:
Above all, I really wanted to have a good photographer. After the photoshoot we made with my bridesmaids and Marry me cocotteI knew I wanted to have the same result for my wedding pictures, like a real story. While talking to Elodie from Un beau jourshe immediately introduced me to Martin from Say Cheers. I met him, we realized some projects together and it was funny because Martin follows Make My Lemonade for a long time and he became naturally the man for the job. Martin, I know I already told you this a hundred times... but you rock.
- Martin Condomines from Say Cheers
- Place, decoration, and tableware:
I told you about my wedding place researches in my first post but as you can see, the house we found was already crazy. We added some tables and chairs to give a "bar ambiance" to the place with Emmanuelle chairs for the ceremony. We used them for the lay ceremony at the beginning of the day and then to sit in the dining room. It didn't seam to be idealistic but finally it was very instinctive. I also wanted to play on the contrast between the modern house and the vintage tableware.
- Furniture and decoration rental, La bohème-Déco.
- Vintage tableware and crystal vase rental, Vintage tableware.
- Flowers:
For the flowers, it has been a real pleasure, discover and amazing initiation because I have never created bouquets before. I am lucky because I have always known what I wanted and I had a precise idea of it. As the dresscode was about the different shades of blue, I didn't want to have my bouquets to be blue too and it is not very easy to find natural blue flowers... I decided to create neutral bouquets with white and green colors and some touches of grey/bleu (I used thistles for that). I had the chance to meet Arthur and Clement, the two guys who launched the Bloom's concept I talked to you about, these past weeks.
- Bouquets to do yourself with seasonal flowers from Bloom'sto be discovered!
- Caterer:
It is another emblematic point. For the food, I really wanted to have a food truck but it was very expensive so a bit complicated. Thanks to our wonderful wedding planner, we discovered Claire and Jerome! I talked to you about them a few days ago but I can assure you that it was so delicious! By the way, I talked to Claire (the founder of Twenty Peas) about your remarks concerning the gluten free burger bread recipe and she gave me more precisions so I edited the post! If you are not getting married soon, you can still have launch at their place!
- Twenty peas59 rue des Mathurins, 75008 Paris.
- The Little Twenty peas, 6 Rue Treilhard, 75008 Paris.
- Wedding cake:
I don't know why but I was particularly interested in the wedding cake topic. I didn't really care about the veil and the garter but I dreamt about this dessert. I was really excited about this cake and a few months ago, I wrote the portrait of the lovely Lauren from Popelini. She gave us her secret recipe to make lemonade cream puffs and I rapidly discovered that they also make wedding cakes! The flavors of the cream puffs were: black sesame, rose, vanilla and praline. I also gave them the theme of our wedding: under the moon and I did not expect to see this huuuuge moon! Everybody loved it!
- Popelini wedding cake and little treats: 29 rue Debelleyme, 75003 and 44 rue des martyrs 75009 Paris.
- Music and lights:
For the music, I am very lucky because my wonderful friends from Radiooooo (I already talked to you about them here) took care of it and it was magic! I would like to thank you for sending us all your love and happiness songs. We completed the WILL YOU MARRY ME playlist! You are more than 600 subscribers so do not hesitate to send us your wedding songs (ball, church, district office, lay ceremony).

- Dress and costume:
Few months ago, I told you that I was scared to spill wine on my dress and I created the "plan B" dress, the famous Lolita from Wear Lemonade! This dress has been my plan A for the district office ceremony. One week before the wedding, I sewed it with Laure's help. I was really nervous because I didn't want to make mistake... For the second day, I wore this Tara Jarmon glittery dress. I knew it would be easier to clean it. Thomas wore a bespoke Sanson costume. He was really happy to have the perfect costume just made for him. I also found him some full moon cufflinks on Etsy.
- Bespoke costume: Sanson
- Glitter dress: Tara Jarmon
- Lay ceremony and wedding rings:
For the ceremony, you have been so many to ask me what was it about... Actually it is very simple: it is a ceremony in which our friends, witnesses and family spoke. They prepared a speech and a friend coordinated everything. No one read an extract of the Little Prince or a gospel; it was all about anecdotes on us and our love. We laughed and cried so much and we finally exchanged our wedding rings. At this moment, for me, we were really getting married in front of people we love!
- Surprises:
Obviously, during the wedding, there were unexpected moments, surprises and it was crazy! Our witnesses and bridesmaids created a tepee in which you could find a camera ready to record some messages to wish us a nice honeymoon! It was so nice!
- Stationary and guests' gift:
Another important part for us was the stationary and the guests' gifts in order to bring a piece of the party at home. I talked to you about it here!
- Wonderful stationary, inspiration and ink pads: Mister M studio
- E-cussons to make embroidered patches to offer!
I hope you liked these special weeks! I am preparing a post about "what a bride can do to have fun before the wedding" that is coming soon. For those who may be interested, on the 7th of November, there is the Andy says yes wedding festival at the Bastille Design Center in Paris if you need to find inspiration but also people you may want to work with. I send you big kisses!

MEET: DELPHINE M.
Behind this mysterious title you probably recognized Delphine Manivet the famous wedding dresses designer. As you already know, I did not choose a dress she made for my wedding but I really wanted you to discover this wonderful person. She really has her place in our wedding week! I know her work for a long time and I even have the chance to own a black Pierrot dress she drew for her capsule collection with La Redoute. I had the pleasure to meet her during the event Geraldine Dormoy organized to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Café Modewhere Delphine was also a speaker. Her speech was amazing. I agreed with her about transmission, sharing and French know-how. Between two interventions, I came to see her and told her that I just felt in love with her. She probably thought I was completely crazy but she accepted to give me her email to answer some questions.
I like the way Delphine combines her designer job with her businesswoman and woman lives. For a long time, I didn't know what to answer to the question: "Who inspires you?" but now I think she is part of these people. She thinks and believes that we can create things and build a real universe while respecting many values... that are recurring topics in my life right now.
For some years now, I follow with attention and admire Delphine's work and I could not resist asking her thousands of questions: on the way she creates, get inspired... I liked her honesty, authenticity and passion. I hope I will have other occasions to talk to you about Delphine soon!
- Important question: Can you tell us more about your career?
I studied at the Higher Institute specialized in fashion in Paris and I worked for 5 years for big companies before launching my brand.
- "Do it yourself question": I read somewhere, that you didn't find your dream wedding dress so you decided to draw it yourself. What did it look like?
Unfortunately, it doesn't exist anymore because I used it to realize my first wedding dresses patterns but it is still existing through my dresses. It was a long ivory silk dress and the bustier was covered by old lace. My hair wasn't really done but I had flowers in it. It was my ceremony dress and at night I wore a jade green Indian sari.
- "Domino effect question": How did you know that it was the right time to launch your own brand?
After creating my own wedding dress, I made those of my friends and then those of friends of my friends... and the adventure began. I studied the market, made a loan and realized a first collection. I was very lucky because the press immediatly supported me while I didn't know anybody... but with a lot of work and optimism, I realized my dream of creating a small couture house.
- Notebook question: How do you draw your creations? Do you make technical drawings or instinctive ones?
I draw all the time because it is what I like the most. I always have some notebooks in my bag it is true. I draw in the metro, in my bed, when I am having lunch. I firstly draw my ideas very quickly and then I do more elaborated sketches that I give to my teams.
- "Transmission question": Over time, do you think your teams learnt how to read your drawings?
Dylia who works for me for a long time, has the best hands of Paris and she knows me very well. She immediately knows what I want without any explanation. It is very intuitive and then my extraordinary tailors Monette and Anka give life to my drawings.
- "Knowhow question": Can you tell me more about your famous 'tissue hem' and Made in France?
In the design world, to make a 'tissue hem' on silk muslin is the most difficult thing to do if you want to have a perfect result. You need at least 7 years to train a good engineer. The beautiful talks time. I fight for years to maintain the knowhow we have in France. It is a choice of excellence and a story I want to communicate to my brides in the whole world.
- Rolling Stones question: What is your best satisfaction as a businesswoman? Fashion designer? And woman?
Above all, I am the mother of a wonderful 10 years-old little boy and a sweet 7 years-old little girl. They are both also part of the adventure and they inspire me everyday in my businesswoman and fashion designer roles. These are two completely different things but I decided to be both and finally, each role fits very well with the other. My best satisfaction is that I have built a team and succeeded to communicate my dreams.
- Guidance counselor question: If you had enough time to learn new things, what would you like to do?
I would love to study in a Faculty of Medicine. I often watch videos on YouTube about open-heart surgeries. I know it is a bit weird but it fascinates me! I would have loved to become a cardiac surgeon.
- Trick question: What is the worst gift someone can offer you?
A cookbook because I hate being in a kitchen. I have no talent but I am fond of good food.
- Memories question: What is your first dress memory?
It is a trapeze dress made in white cotton with a big embroidered neckline and little pockets that I wore for my first communion when I was 8. I thought it was the most beautiful dress in the world. I still have it... in my daughter's closet.
- "Peter Pan question": Which job did you want to do as a kid?
When I was a child, I wrote illustrated stories with a moral at the end as in the fairytales. It found it comforting. I also created little books and my mom kept them all. I thought it was a nice job!
Bonus question: While visiting your office, I noticed that you didn't really like colors. If white was not synonym of wedding anymore, what would be your favorite color?
It's not that I do not like colors but they will never totally satisfy me. For my latest Haute Couture collection, we made lots of trials before finding the red of my birds dress. Colors are more demanding and fascinating. There is only white that leaves me totally in peace.
Pictures by Christophe Roue from Delphine's latest collection. If I had to organize my wedding a second time, these are clearly my two favorite dresses!
In order to share a bit more of her universe, Delphine offers you the possibility to win 3 books about her work! To win one, you just have to leave a comment below telling me what does you dream wedding dress look like! The winner will be chosen by random on Thursday morning and the results will be announced on this post! I send you big kisses!
And the winners are... Cam, Cyrielle and Alice D.
