Happy DIY day kittens,

You know, there are some things we dream about, and we know we'll never be able to afford them, or even if we could have them, we'd never dare wear them. For fear of damaging them, or of not being able to carry the GDP of a developing country on our backs... Yes, we would! You know what I'm talking about, I've already told you about it! here... Well, in this case, it's a bit like wearing fringed boots! Isabel Marant... I had a crush on these shoes with rhinestone bows. But not only are they unaffordable for the average person, they're also unobtainable and sold out absolutely everywhere, because these ladies are starting to show their age. I think they're crazy, they come in ballerinas or heels, I hesitated for a long time on this point for the realization of this DIY because I told myself that it was still more flattering to do it on a pair of pumps, I was afraid of the party sausage look on a pair of ballerinas. Without further ado, here are the steps to make your own pair of pumps... Chloé style.

For this DIY:

-Cost approx. 30 euros (materials excl. pumps)

-Time about 2 hours or 3 hours if you're not very concentrated...

-Difficulty "no need to be an expert"...

For this DIY, you'll need..:

  • - pumps of course, in this case Georgia Rose!
  • - rhinestone ribbon in this style here with small rhinestones on a black background,
  • - felt (2 thin sheets will do),
  • - 4 small snaps,
  • - 8 large round rhinestones,
  • - 4 metres of 2 cm wide ribbon and 50 cm of 1 cm black suede ribbon found at Shindo (you get a 20% discount if you come from me...),
  • - Black cord thread and a leather needle.
  • - 40 cm of wire, or electric sheath.

First, cut 8 rectangles of 8cm x 4cm rhinestone ribbon and do the same in black felt. Next, cut 8 small 5cm x 1cm rectangles from the rhinestone ribbon only. Overlay the felt and rhinestones.

Using the leather needle and black cord, pinch the rectangle in the middle to form a bow tie, and secure it with several hand stitches. Then position the small rectangle over the hand-stitches to hide them.

Secure the small rectangle with the leather needle and black cord to form a ring. And you've got a lovely little bow.

Next, take the 1cm suedine, cut 8 times into 10cm pieces, and form a ring, securing the center to close the suedine loop. With a small additional piece of suedine, form a ring around the center of this loop.

Still using thread and needle, attach this new little suedette bow, and sew a large rhinestone on top. Attach the small black bow with the large diamond to the top of your rhinestone ribbon bow. It's all coming together!

Next, cut 4 strips of suedette, 26cm for the vertical, 27cm for my calf, 24cm for my ankle, and 16cm for my instep. Lay the vertical ribbon on a table, then place the "calf circumference" ribbon perpendicular to it at the top. Place the second "around the ankle" ribbon about 8 cm lower, and finally place the last "kick" ribbon perpendicular to it, again 8 cm lower. Pin these locations perpendicular to each other - I insist, because if they're not straight, they'll look very cheap very quickly. Then machine-stitch the suedette ribbons, forming little squares or crosses.

Then hand-sew the bows at each intersection. You've made the big one, congratulations!

Then hand-stitch the suedette ribbon securely in the middle of the shoe's neckline. The leather needle and cord will help, but don't hesitate to use a thimble for this step.

Then stitch the part corresponding to the kick onto the shoe, allowing for 1cm of seam allowance. Don't worry if you force it (a little!) when you put your shoe on. Then take 17 cm of ribbon (2 cm), fold it in half lengthwise and machine-stitch at the edge with a tight stitch.

Cut 16.5 cm of wire, and slide it through your suedette tube, hand- or machine-closing your tube to seal the wire exit. Securely fasten your rod to the mid-heel of your pump.

At the top of your stem, attach one end of your "calf wrap", securely as usual, "securely" but gracefully, no wire pate... I know you.

Now take the pressure and attach the female part to the back of the rod, sandwiching the "wire" rod and the end of your "calf wrap". Stitch the male part of the snap onto the other end of your calf strap.

Do the same with the ankle part and stitch one end to the upper, 1.5cm above the heel. Then fasten the snaps and TA-DA! Repeat all these steps on the other pump and go and tell your friends...

I'm wearing a powdery pink Marionnaud nail varnish and tights. Etam!
