WEAR LEMONADE x WORKEUSE
I was walking down the street the other day and found myself smiling broadly when I thought of the people at Lemonade Studio. I wasn't just thinking of a good pun or a funny situation, but just of them. A thought that warmed my heart. I often say it, but having built a team is one of the things that has taught me the most and upset me the most over the last few years. Realizing that my project is no longer mine, but that of all these women and this man fills me with a new energy, gives a new meaning to my job.
I can't wait to see them again every Monday morning, because we grow together. But that's not all, we take care of each other. We're attentive, we don't leave anyone on the sidelines, we exchange little text messages to let each other know that we've noticed that someone didn't look so good yesterday and that we need to be careful... We find answers in each other's experiences. It's crazy, these 10 different personalities making it all work, and work very well indeed. Does sorority mean anything to you?
Sorority: definitely a feminine noun. This term was first used by feminists in the 1970s to translate the English term sisterhood, which the American feminist movements had coined in reaction to the term brotherhood. It is similar to fraternity. Sorority refers to the bonds between women who feel similarities, affinities, similar experiences, due to the fact that they share the same feminine condition, that they have the same social status. I'm often told that all this is possible because we're still a small team. I think that deep down, I have the "utopian" desire to believe that this is one of my company's values. And if there are more of us in the future, I'm convinced that we'll all have the intelligence to make it work. From our past experiences, we've come to realize that kindness and positive energies are the best fuel for a team to grow.
But we try not to let our sadness, anger or tiredness get the better of us, and try to be as positive as possible so as not to affect the whole group. The idea is not to bury, but to get our emotions out so we can move on more quickly. Sharing and caring lift mountains.
And then, as an entrepreneur, I can give you a piece of advice: it won't cost you any more to be a good listener and know how to say that things are well done. Because it would be easy to say "the work is well done, it's normal, that's what we pay them for...". But you've no idea how recognition and the right words can make you grow at breakneck speed. It doesn't cost more, but it can definitely bring you a lot, and even more, make a team happy. And you should know that this investment of energy is far from a miscalculation, because the people who work alongside you are the people with whom you spend the most time on a daily basis... So sometimes, knowing how to recognize your mistakes, put your ego aside and congratulate a good idea will take you out of your comfort zone. But the good news is, that's when great things happen!
This collection is an ode to women who work, who support each other and who believe that together, we're capable of anything. For all the hard-working women who dream big, the courageous entrepreneurs, and all the workeuses-to-be, I embrace you and hope these clothes will inspire you to keep reinventing yourself.
