DIY BREAK IN CASE...
Hello my little kittens!
I'm writing to you from my Greek cloud, a cloud on which we'll be staying for a while yet... We said "I do" last Friday and Saturday with Thomas (better twice than once...). I don't have the words to describe how happy we were, we've definitely been to the moon... Thank you for all your words, your thoughts, your kindness, it's so good. I won't hide the fact that I don't really want to land just yet, but fortunately at the studio before I left, we prepared some little contents for you in advance, some emergency lemonade so you wouldn't be left without your dose of lemon! I'll come back to this mad love affair starting next week, but for now I'll keep it to ourselves for a while longer.
Today we're going to do a little do-it-yourself decorating, even more euphoric than a chocolate fountain or a unicorn ride... I assure you, I can't wait to get back to the office to see these little boxes again. The plexiglass box "to break" in case of a bout of the blues... So it's up to you to have fun with the contents: colorful confetti for a child's bedroom, fine sand "to break in case of a vacation" for the office... Have fun.
There are different ways to do the lettering, the cleanest is to ask a local printer to make your text in black sticker, without background, to the dimensions of your Plexiglas box. If you have a printer silhouette (our very own Michel, I'd have to write an article about it), you can also cut your black sticker directly, and to peel it off the transport sheet, use sticker transfer paper. Alternatively, you can print your text to the right size and transfer it by hand using a posca or a black indelible felt-tip pen, so apply yourself! I look forward to seeing your creations!
For this DIY you'll need :
- - transparent Plexiglas boxes: I found these at BHV in the DIY department after hours of searching!
- - a pair of scissors,
- - flat-nose pliers,
- - masking tape,
- - lighter,
- - nail or screw,
- - confetti, sequins or other wonders!
Use your flat-nose pliers to hold your screw, and heat it with a lighter.
Once it's hot, place it on the Plexiglas to make a hole. This hole will serve as the fixing point for your box.
Fill the box with confetti (as you can see, a salad bowl won't do!).
Close the box tightly, and use masking tape to secure the lid so that it's watertight (or risk seeing your apartment quickly filled with confetti - it's up to you! )
Now place your text on top of the box, depending on the technique you've chosen.
Stick your sticker on tightly, then gently peel off the protective film. And Ta-Da!
