Hello company!

Today, it's all about sewing! It's the very first sewing project of the year, and I wish you lots of them! For my part, I've set myself the challenge of stopping fast fashion, and making at least 1 sewing project a month, for myself, that isn't a pattern made as part of a video tutorial! To be continued! I'll keep you posted on my social networks!

Well, back to the lavaliere shirt, Simona ! I like this one, because it's deceptive, Simona... At first glance, it looks super complicated, but in fact it's done with your fingers in your nose. In the video, you'll see, I've tried to avoid saying every minute that this pattern is too easy, even though it really is! I was amazed to see that very often, for your first sewing patterns, you choose the Bianca blouse or the Lola dress, which have shirt collars! Shirt collars always seem more difficult than they look... But if there were only one difficulty out of three, it would be to make a shirt collar! Simonait would be the tear-proof slits on the cuffs. But that's all there is to it, and once again, it's no mean feat.

Simona, I absolutely wanted to make it in that mustard-colored silky polyester, so I did, but what a pain in the ass that fabric was! I think we'd have spent a lot less time making this video if I'd chosen a poplin, viscose or cotton voile. But the truth is, I really like the loose, flowing cut, the gathered cuff, and this look that can be a little 70's with the removable lavaliere... I'll let you judge for yourself how easy it is to make, and how hellish it can be to make this Miss Simona in a fabric that's too silky... (I tested it for you!).

  • To sew this shirt, you'll need 2m20 of fabric in a width of 1m40 for the largest size, or 2m60 if the width is 1m10. I advise you to use viscose, as it's very soft, but a cotton voile, or a polyester that's not too slippery, can also be good. For those who prefer matte fabrics, you can choose natural or synthetic crepe,

  • 9 buttons, 8 or 10mm,
  • a bit of fusible webbing (50cm, choose thin and knit if possible)!

Don't forget to share photos of your creations on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #DIYWearLemonade or on our community page!
