Hello my little cats!

Okay, I know Valentine's Day is tomorrow, but I couldn't resist turning today into a stylistic exercise. Oh no, don't go away just because I'm talking about Valentine's Day, I promise I won't be too cheesy. If my boyfriend could fill my apartment with scented candles, buy me a box of chocolates in the shape of a heart, and wait for me with my body covered in sushi and a rose between my teeth, I'd be in complete trance... So yes, in the end, it's as commercial as Halloween and as unpunctual as Women's Day... Yes, but we can't afford to miss this avalanche of pastel marshmallows... So we might as well make up our minds, and say no to a little love, or an evening out with our single buddies, bad-mouthing the couples around us.

Rereading my article aloud in the office, the girls asked me what I called a "girl-girl" and if I wasn't a "girl-girl", how did I see myself? I could define myself by negations such as "I don't like macaroons, I prefer sausage"... A girl who likes things that aren't really "for her", but more "manly". If Najat Vallaud-Belkacem were to read me, she'd jump to the ceiling... The lemonade girls got the idea, and we started looking for a ( non-exhaustive ) list of clichés of what "girl-girls" do, and what we think "boy-girls" do...

And rest assured that I consider myself a bonhomme sometimes, but that I love "Love actually" and call my guy "my lover".

So the "girl-girl":

  • - She watches Love Actually,
  • - She coordinates her underwear,
  • - She says she doesn't like beer,
  • - She thinks the word "cock" is vulgar,
  • - She's going to Disneyland for Valentine's Day,
  • - She never has runny mascara,
  • - She always has ballerinas in her bag,
  • - She says she likes cupcakes (but she doesn't finish them),
  • - She says "my lover",
  • - She puts on eye shadow.

And the "man-girl"

  • - She watches Love Actually and then Pacific Rim,
  • - She only coordinates her underwear when they're all clean,
  • - She says she doesn't like champagne,
  • - Besides, she drinks at the Dirty Dick,
  • - She forgets Valentine's Day,
  • - She calls her make-up "her shit",
  • - She ends her evenings barefoot,
  • - She goes to Mac do whenever she's lazy,
  • - She says "my partner in crime",
  • - She has lipstick on her teeth.

Personally, I think I completely fit into the second list, but I do a lot of "girl-girl" stuff too... Anyway, feel free to expand our lists!

To get back to today's looks, I've been having color fixations for many months now, and I realize that in many of my moodboards, I'm always drawn to the same color combinations: Red and Pink... Fluorescent Coral and Fuchsia, Pale Pink and Love Apple Red... It's a bit obsessive at times. Plus, I think it always makes for hot, hyper-visual, vitamin-packed looks. So I did a little shopping at different brands, opened my closets and put together my looks like a little chemist. Thanks to the talented Pauline Darley for these photos.
